  1. Took it to a weighbridge today, full of chip, 3 climbing kits, lowering kit, 8 saws, tool kit etc.. 6,650 Kgs - Not bad! Only over by a few percent! We now have a truck that we have to try hard to overload! And it pulls well and drives great fully loaded!
  2. It might not be the best forum for the question, but there is normaly someone on Arbtalk who will point you in the right direction.. Other forums can be too helpfull... and I get confused. I have read threads in the Navitron, but sometimes there is to much information.
  3. An Arb Method Statement (from BS5837) should tell the contractors undertaking the works how to do it without haming the trees. Not the same as a Method Statment before tree works. My point is that tree protection is way to late in this case...
  4. Apparently not because the combi only fires up when it is needed.. So if you have enough hot water it doesn't do anything.
  5. It is doable from what I can see. You need to turn your unvented combi boiler into a vented system, get a header tank and a heat accumulator. The H2 panel is about £500 which does it, if you phone him make sure you have time because he will go into great detail.. He lost me after the first 5 mins and 42 mins later my head was spinning.. Hense posting on here for an understandable answer ... maybe. Heating Innovations H2 control system homepage
  6. I called them today, but Dunsley say they don't work with combi boilers.
  7. I currently have a combi boiler and am planning on installing a wood burner with back boiler. I want to link the systems. Has any one done this successfully or know of anyone who has? My plan is to fit an Ecoboiler 20 stove with a twin coil vented cylinder. (the extra coil for if I install solar at a later date). Any one know how I need to link the two? H2 panel, Grant combisol, or other?? My research has been a little frustrating as many people say this can't be done. Stovesonline has some good info, but does not say how it is done.
  8. I had to do a AIA at a site, while there I was asked to write a Method Statement at a neighboring part of the site for construction of a patio. The trees are TPO'd....? There's been a big fire under one, two have had about a foot of soil removed to within 3ft of the trunk.. Where do you start... Turn back the clock 6 months, install tree protection fencing
  9. We never used them in the end but they do nationwide hire: Bobcat skidsteer hire
  10. Aeril rescue, use a saw on the ground and can drive a proper truck with chipper! It's just what I've been looking for! You might never be a hot shot climber but you could be a very useful groundie.
  11. Kev, typing at the same time... I'm glad your happy with the trade, is the transit coping with your hills? We're pretty flat round here! As to a 110 or 130, the 110 is only a little bit lighter then the 130 what's 20 inches of chassis and a bit of ally side weight? As to the turning circle of the land rover.......
  12. We've just swapped our 54 transit with Kev(and a fistfull of cash) for a 2000 130. The 130 has a much smaller load then the transit Is much less comfortable then the transit Has no space in the cab - (make sure you have at least 1 small guy for the middle seat, or a lady with good legs) Is MUCH more expensive to buy (but should hold it's value) Over the last 7 years we have not had any major mechanical issues with our transits (we will wait and see with the land rover) It does however look great and has the 4wd and towing ability etc. For domestic work, I'd stick with a transit. For us as our second vehicle used with our 6.5ton Iveco it's great! and it hasn't broken yet!
  13. Be aware the 3 day course is NOT designed to teach you tree assessment but to assess your ability to undertake tree assessment. You should know what your doing before you go on the course..
  14. Makes the prof dip at tree life -two years 25 sessions £4200+VAT seem reasonable. Its now all assessed by the center so also achievable..
  15. Cheers Jaime.. I passed all the exams, but don't think they did the management day this spring due to the changes. What's happening with the Prof dip? Did you take any exams yet? Or has it all gone coursework? If so I might go back to that.. read your write up in the AA mag.
  16. It's the colours of the text I'm struggling with.. Or maybe the shade of green?
  17. Sorry 5837 uses alot of acronyms. AIA - Arb Implications Assessment. This is what planners generaly want. Records all the trees and provides the data for the TCP -Tree Constraint Plan. Should be done before the designs (nearly never is). AMS - Arb Method Statement. Shows how the works are going to be completed without damaging the trees, specifies tree protection etc. Contractos on site should follow it (nearly never do).
  18. Still not sure if its right... Any ideas....?
  19. BS5837 has nothing to do with tree hazards. Tree life does a day course, which is an introduction, but there is a lot to BS5837 surveys. If you are going to do the course get the BS and study it and get hold of as many AIA's and AMS's.
  20. Well it's been 15 years since I've been a land rover owner and I've looked at just about every other 4x4 in an attempt to avoid having to pay the huge sums required to purchase an uncomfortable, unrefined vehicle. But as nothing else is comparable, I've returned to the green oval! Some of you may recognise it as an arbtalk members.. There's one less landy in hudderfield! Cheers Kev enjoy the Transit:001_smile: Just need to paint it yellow to match the iveco!
  21. Saving the doors for aa approved/working with your council.. (maybe) The www above the url should be in white on the windscreen imo. Works well on our transits.
  22. Had it loaded with bricks today! Stopped when we got to the top of the original tipper body. How much can you get on yours?
  23. I know wimbledon have got back into the football league but blue and yellow... I like green, kinda says trees... But not sure if it should be darker..
