  3. Nice Tree ...there's another tall (v Tall ) tulip next to the church in Preston Lane, Faversham...worth a look if you are close by
  4. I will contribute..nice thought Lee:icon14:
  5. It would be a great shame to lose such a stunning syc.
  6. The legal descrip. seems a little bias on over playing the lack of responsibility for the operator. Making excuses ..."the second biggest saw" etc... what saw what power? Think this says more about recording training given to employees for your protection...just write it down and get them to sign.
  7. Was thinking yesterday of how guilty i am in coming too close to my rope. This for me is a real eye opener... I really hope Chris recovers quickly and well... HSE's behaviour is shocking!! But i have nothing but respect for the Professional rescue services in these situations where it becomes obvious they really know what they are doing...always donate for this reason
  8. Some oustanding work there!! Congrats Tommy!!
  9. Would love to have been able to apply for this when I was living in north London, don't think I really would have had enough experience though
  10. Hi Mate, Used to work in those parts, for bigger companies you could try the Tree Company in Hounslow or Tree Care in Acton. CIP and KBA usually need people too. Also there are quite a few smaller firms who it may be worth ringing around. Sorry i don't know of any firms specifically based in Ealing. Definately give the Tree Company a call though. Good Luck
  11. Can't believe it is a year all ready!! Congratulations and many thanks to those who put in so much hard work to keep the forum going.... Roll on the next year...
  12. Love those Mercs!! Tastefully done Ed
  13. Good to see it back on the road Ben
  14. The last couple of pages are great (apart from personal asides) they demonstrate how subjective and individual our work can be, they also show how "best practise" is constantly evolving - globally. For me the best part though is that people have such a passion for the subject and the well being of the individual tree. Stepping back from arbtalk and the world of aboriculture I would say this dedication is without measure. Cheers All
  15. Nice one Nick...
  16. Nice pics tony these type of gall always remind me of this:
  17. Bet that made your day seeing that...
  18. Disappointed you didn't get any before shots?? Good work Dean looks a right mess...tragedy for the beech...
  19. Hi there mate!! bit of a dilema you got there but a hort. background should help you to begin with. The apprenticeship would probably give you a more rounded training experience - But having said that if you could get employed and trained by someone who is exceptional then this would be my preferred option... Having cs30 and 31 would be a great start too and more beneficial to an employer also a short course would give you a taste of arb work... Hope that is of some help...ask if you have any more questions or queries. Otherwise best of luck with it!!
  20. For what it is worth Jim - I have just started working with a smaller firm - just 2 of us and a subbie and I am progressing and doing much more now than I have in the last two years!! My last firm was only five employees all ticketed all wanting to climb but no one with more than five years exp. - working with the new firm they have more experience and have taught me more about doing quality work & trees than I ever learnt just hacking at trees on large council contracts. The choice is yours - tryout with both but don't get overly enamoured by the lure of tickets and equipment. Knowing your trade counts for a lot. Before I started my new job I was in a similar position and looking at working for a larger Utility firm - better pay, better equipment and probably more "training" (tickets) but I wouldn't swap now and am very thankful that I didn't take the role.
  21. Very nice pics...Looks like some great Forest!!
  22. Went back again so got some close up shots ..hope you like them ...wonder what they would be like for carving one day..
  23. Sorry to hear about this mate!! As said above I reckon expert advice is the way to go....Hope it all works out okay
  24. Good plan! Wish I had i'll try and find it..
  25. I'll try and get some when I am next back there...the biggest ones were approx. a foot+ long
