  2. I work all day, go to teh gym a few times a week, 3 or 4 times, normally when my lady is training with her running club. When i'm not doing that i'm either running, cycling, rock climbing, or doing a variety of board sports. its not exercise, its all good fun Jamie
  3. bit of a shame, couldn't they have strung some lights up where it was and rammed a fairy ontop Jamie

    North west

we are camping at sandwood jamie
  5. I was under the impression marlow braid wasn't a double braid, after pulling it apart i've found it to be a 3 strand core and a braided cover. marlow themselves state it being a core dependant rope. Jamie

    Spike Kickout!

On a leaning poplar stem, i was cutting a wedge out so i could bury the dogs of the 288 in, pulled the saw up, spikes kicked out and a 288, tied onto my right side, slid off to the the left. Another time, i was new to rigging, i tried to use a half hitch to rig out a block. two mistekes made, i forgot to use a peg (i was new at the time and i was tired after 6 hours up the tree), and i flicked my scare strap in front of the lowering line. funnily enough the hitch slipped knocked my spikes out and the chunk pulled my lines down, i slid about 15 foot before the rope caught a peg. nothing to do but get back up and take smaller chunks. lesson learnt Jamie

  10. I've never used a redirect (i'm assuming thats the topic). I've never felt the need to use one, either that or i've never had a hard enough tree to use one on Jamie

    T'Lympics

Found the beach vollyball boring, my lady wanted to watch it however. watched the hightlights of teh mens gymnastics....wow. I prefer the winter games Jamie
  13. it bears a striking resemblance to the 090 in the workshop Jamie
  14. I've got a rockhopper, i got the top spec a few years ago and paid about 900, Its a work horse, currently it has slicks, mudguards and two pannier racks. oh and try on one Jamie
  15. Try geting yourself onto the SWT (Scottish Wildlife Trusts) volunteer squads. they will train you etc. We have had a few guys through us that way. Work is slowing up big time... Tried Imrie, Fountains, QTS now do a lot of railway line stuff, their 360s (rubber ducks) are dotting around as road railers with track grabs. Jamie
  16. go on lee, stick me down as well Jamie
  17. and its made froma different fibre. where'd you get it from Tom? Jamie
  18. Thats no tenex in theat description, Tenex is polyester. Tenex has 12 strands, Tenex tec has 12 strands each strand being made up of 2 'carriers'. Samsons page isn't opeing for me just now, It sounds like bailout or ice tail. which ever is teh 12 strand version. (i think bailout is a doublebraded rope) Jamie
  19. I've not looked at their splices page in a long time. Samson seem to be responding by making a lot of new splicing instructions. Jamie
  20. I don't believe that we are the sole cause but i also believe that we should be reducing our 'carbon footprint', increasing reducing reusing and recyling etc etc all the same. Jamie
  21. Pete don't go out of your way for me, chances are i won't make it anyway. The only rope i really have any sort of problems with is Marlow Braid....horrible stuff Jamie
  22. Yeah the suit doesn't say wood cutter to me either. smart but casual. if you send a cv off follow it up with a phone call. When i stayed in Ayr some guy from Imrie lived round teh corner (i never went to see him however). Jamie
  23. Apart from splicing what is covered in the course. Jamie
  24. I know it cost and that is the Issue but is £15 really enough to make you consider not going. Thats only a largeish round at a pub. I can cope paying 15 buckeroonies its not life and death. Jamie
  25. Tell them who you are and what other skills you have that they can use (can you weld etc) honesty is important, don't sell yourself as a cracking demolition climber if you are not comfortable on spikes. Try and get some trial days with companies, work for free for a day to get to know them and some experience. You live in Ayrshire, are you willing to travel? Not to put a downer on things but, I'm not sure how good a time it is to be looking just now. The market is slowing down rapidly. Jamie
