  3. You could try local woodturners.
  4. I used a Jonsered when i lived in sweden, very good IMO not as powerful as some but reliable. A swedish guy use to call it a farmers saw because of the abuse he gave it.
  5. Thats the one, he was going to put a stove in the middle there quite roomy inside.
  6. About time too, some developers think they can get away with anything. There was one a few mths back where a someone got there builder to cut down a tree in a conservation area tree officer found out and the person got fined 15,000 and ordered to plant 6 semi mature tree within 12mths around the area.
  7. Never tried it on my life line but landyard it works a treat. Like whats been said you can tie it very compact.
  8. post pics, I also do charcoal burning not much this year due to weather but it was good fun. I think my mate has brought a yurt second hand, the canvas needs waterproofing. Are they hard to put up?
  9. If it is going to be used for a babies chair i would personally use bees wax and carnuba both penitrate deep when heated and eddibal. If not danish oil it just as good as any other oil. Carving looks good:thumbup1:
  10. I don't do much chainsaw carving as neighbours whinge, but i turn wood and when its green it splits and distorts. With oils to be honest i try anything mix it and try it out on a tester bit of wood, some oils show grain up better. Ian
  11. Danish oil is a good one, As its still green it will crack as it drys. You got any pics. On smaller things i use bees and caruba wax mixed takes a long time but worth it. Or a clear laquer, hope it helps. I dont like linseed oil it goes rank after a while, shellac is good descreted from bugs i think. Ian
  12. Theres quite a few, new to ebay as well one of them are
  13. Here the distel i use tied other way around left handed.
  14. Its a distel i use it, loosely tied tho.
  15. Got given a chainsaw in sweden and let loose thinning a 40 acre woodland out, never looked back since.
  16. I've only owned a Landy, driven a l200 tho felt abit pansy to me but i prefere the older ones to many computer bits in the newer ones. Ialso dont mind fixing my own easy to give it a service. Saves me money on all those garage charges. The landy is simple and easy to work on, good old workhorse, tows great.
  17. I coppice hazel and sweet chestnut, I know sweet chestnut makes good charcoal burns very hot also good for posts, hurdels, firewood.
  18. Theres no need to be sorry likes been said tempers and emotions are running high since ive been on the forum the ammount of things that have been stolen is unbelievable, sound like you were lucky not to catch them. If ive said anything out of order apolygise
  19. Why is all the good wood so far away
  20. As a beginer at woodturning i think some people charge to much for blanks, especially at shows it's quite off putting when your starting off. Sometimes if its good people will pay anything more money than sense IMO. The better deal that i get the cheaper the customer can get the finished product for, the prices of wooden bowls in some shops is unbelievable. Any way moan over. If you have time save them up and take them to shows eg. festival of the tree at westonbirt.
  21. Like people have said too eager to impress, He's only learning everybody makes mistakes. Sacking him is to harsh , I would have given him a big bollocking embarass him maybe but not sack him. Ian
  22. The first one looks good steve, It will make a good car sticker too.
  23. There's been a few kids off with it at my Daughters school including my daughter too. She's been off all week sickness, diorrah and very hot temp. Just try and keep the fluids up best you can.
