  3. You're going down a very slippery slope mate. When you've dug yourself into a hole the very first thing to do is stop digging, the next is looking to dig your way out. You seem well meaning but do seem to have been somewhat radicalised by right-wing ideologies and the bad actors portraying them. Best of luck.

  5. This is what I use for a leader: Trilene® 100% Fluorocarbon Filler Spool | Berkley Fishing® WWW.BERKLEY-FISHING.COM Choice of the pros, Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon is the “XT” of professional-grade fluorocarbons. This proven formula provides incredible shock strength, abrasion resistance, and knot... I like to catch a fish I can eat if I can, first though I have to work out where they're going to be, what they're interested in, and when they're likely to be there (Google Earth history function is mint). I'll keep a bass between 50 and 55cm in length (clearly not now as they're protected from the perils of someone with a rod), anything bigger or smaller goes back. I genuinely like the sport, and the taste of bass.
  6. Braided line is a game changer. I use 80lb on my beach caster and I could probably drag a van with it. 15 - 20lb braid seems to be the sweet spot though, it's very fine but strong, it's what I use when hunting bass.
  7. Aye, but they're looking to close that. A mate of mine has recently got into jungle canopy access, his crossbow with a fishing reel attached is a thing of beauty.

  9. I genuinely don't envy him.

  11. My mate has just released a new album, when I was designing the cover with him he remarked "What's the 'kin point? Nobody has a CD player anymore."

It can often make sense to have a like-minded groundie.

Odds though of a pole hitting someone, when you're working alone should it drop, must be slim to none.

I played that game for quite a while, you get used to not dropping things. Anything you're doing with a silky should be manageable and you should be able to allow yourself enough time to stow your saw and handle the piece without fear of it breaking without control. Things differ slightly with a chainsaw but you know that.

Nope. The thing is, a hanging chainsaw (or an ice ace?) is unlikely to significantly damage a moving rope, a silky might well.

Aye, but generally there's a someone who can just tie on your silky if you do happen to drop it on a tree job, that's maybe trickier when navigating The Dru.. Whatever you do, don't try and grab it when it's falling handle first. A mate of mine was helping me out about a 12 years back, he'd never done tree work before, I passed him the silky and he proceeded to cut backwards towards his face and missed by 10mm if that. He's since gone on to climb all over the place.

I don't know and have never seen anyone use a silky with a lanyard. You just put them back in the scabbard or climb like a pirate when needed. The magnet is to stop the saw falling out of a knackered scabbard, you aren't sticking the saw to the outside.

Generally when climbing, your ropes are hanging from the front of your harness so having the handle orientated so a) it doesn't catch on all the ropes sending your saw to the floor, and b) so it's ready to use without crossing it inside of your bridge is a good idea. What is also a good Idea is to gaffer tape a neodymium magnet to the scabbard for when the top catch eventually gives up the ghost.

Sawpods last forever, just get one and save your fancy straps that will catch your ropes for something else. Silkys seem to like blood or rope, they usually settle down after their first kill. Why do you orientate the scabbard that way? It looks backwards to me.
