  1. Probably the speed sensor not the box. Clean it and make sure it has not moved. Always check the simple things first.
  2. Rupe I love it. Have not heard that version before. There are some classics out there. In brief this is how it happened. In 1999 Entec decided to explore the dealer network as chipper sales were expanding very rapidly with a diversity of customers not just Entecs main customer, the tree surgeon. Entec wanted to explore this market without damaging the Entec (Yellow) brand which was still sold direct from the factory. A few machines were made orange as demonstrators named TW and dealers approached. This was just to test the water as to say, but it went mad. The TW marketing animal was born. 2001 saw huge TW sales and it became more difficult to produce 2 colours. The bits needed were always the wrong colour, so in Oct 2001 the last official yellow Entec was produced and all production changed to TW and machines sold through dealers. Simple. No buy out, No American Takeover, No Family Splits and the other 100 versions I have heard. Just a bit of good fortune and some excellent marketing.
  3. The chipper is a 1997 Entec CH25PH. Battery is in the wrong place. I suspect this was put there because of the new fuel tank being a different size and taking up the battery space. The battery where it is now will get cooked by the exhaust as there is no shield. My main concern is the price. From a dealer in good condition this machine would retail at approx £3500. The chippper needs a HSE Kit. This would need an Entec Stage 1 kit I think. Can't be 100% sure without seeing valve on the machine. This is in the region of £1000 + vat fitted. There is a no-stress visible. Does this work. New replacement £300. Then there is the bearings / fans etc. To be sure the only real way is to have them done by someone who knows how to do it properly. There goes another £250 minimum. Then there is the rotor itself. How worn is it and the shafts. If it has never been replaced and sharfts / pockets are worn a new replacement is the best part of £550. This is because at that age they were a one piece design not the new 3 piece. The sums don't add up. Unless you are good on the spanners so alot of labour can be saved or don't mind using an illegal / non conforming machine my advice would be to stay clear. Regards Mike
  4. Look straight at the engine from the front. On the lower lhs you will see the rectifier / regulator. 3 wires. 1 purple and 2 white I think. Check these connections as they corrode badly. Clean them and then test voltage with a meter. You need to have about 13.5v coming out. Call me 01449 770044 if you need help. Regards Mike
  5. The supplier (???) always send sweets with each delivery. We normally take them out. But yours went direct. Think of all those staff at OP going without their sweets this morning lol.
  6. If it has ground to a halt, its more than just the bearings. The bearings will have been gone for a while. You are likely to need bearings, new nose shaft, poss a main shaft and housings. For this to be done the complete rotor has to be removed and stripped. Rear shaft removed, nose pressed out and new one pressed in. You will notice the fan behind the inner blade, if still complete, will have worn alot more than the outer one. To extend their life you need to swap them over when refitting. Once complete the rotor will need re balancing before being refitted. At a dealer for all this work I would suggest you budget approx £500. This should cover the worst including new fans. If fans are complete will be about £130 less. Regards Mike
  7. More http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/news/4573692.Gardener_relives_arm_loss_horror/ The bit about not being able to reach the stop button/bar gets me. What type of chipper was it. Can't be a bottom bar machine. I would suspect top bar chipper and he lent in under the bar!!!! I know people see bottom bars as a pain but my guess is that this guy would still have an arm if he was using this type of chipper.

We have the Carlton SP4012D Pro on the hire fleet. 33Hp Turbo Kubota, 4x4, dozer blade, radio remote and sandvic head. Will go through 35" gap with the extra fronts removed. 550 hours and apart from teeth and routine engine servicing and a couple of drive belts, no parts have been replaced. Not the cheapest machine but you get what you pay for. Previous Vermeer and Predator were always in the workshop.
  10. Generally dearer. They take alot longer to sharpen and turn around ready for hire again. Also build in tooth damage etc. Of all our equipment the grinders take the most pounding. As has already been mentioned, alot of our customers save their stumps up and usually hire for one or two days and do the lot.
  11. We had one from a company called Diesel Bob on the Iveco Daily 35C12 Flatbed. You could turn it up and down as you wished. Turned up empty it was lary. But with the low loader trailer and 3 chippers (approx 7 tonnes gross) it would come back from germany at 70mph. Turn it down or put the dummy plug in that returned the settings to normal (used to plug this in for mot) and you were lucky to get to 50mph. Covered thousands of miles in it and it never missed a beat. It also increased the mpg but only if you drove sensibly.
  12. Sorry Johnny. Sold. Let you know if I get another.

    Regards Mike

  13. What parts are you replacing? If your old stub axle was the old one (completely machined nylon) then you will need to check the new one is a tight fit all round otherwise the problem will still be there. The nylon bush itself does not usually wear. Instead it wears the metal roller hex. Just check. It's alot of work to put it back just to have to do it again. Also make sure you clean out all the grease passageways as these being blocked is what prob caused the failure originally. Regards Mike
  14. No. There would be 2 blue lines if it was pregnant.
  15. Sold a couple of LMS cranes. For the money they were good. No complaints from the customers either.
  16. Prochip are expanding their operations with a new arb equipment and tool shop opening in August 2009. We are looking for a skilled, highly motivated individual with the desire to succeed. Main responsibilities will include the day to day running of the shop, ordering stock and assisting in establishing and expanding the customer database. Duties will also include assisting in our existing machinery sales, service and hire depot. A good knowledge of the Arboricultural industry and 2 stroke machinery would be an advantage, but not a necessity as full manufactures training could be provided to the right candidate. Candidates would require a full driving license. The ability to tow over 750kgs also would be a benefit, but again, not essential. We have many innovative ideas how to make this new venture a success and are offering a good remuneration package to the right individual. If interested please forward your C.V with a cover letter to: Mr Mike Zarkos Prochip Arboricultural Machinery Ltd Unit 12 Tomo Business Park Stowmarket Suffolk IP14 5AY
  17. It depends what motors they are. If they are Char-Lynn you can get a new flange for about £30. If not you can do a mechanical fix. pm me if you want more details. Regards Mike.

Insurance is the killer. My 17 y/o stepdaughter just looking now. £1700 fully comp for a 2002 Ford KA worth just over £2000, and that was one of the cheaper ones. Ended up on her mums insurance but to name her so she can earn no claims was still expensive. And if she has an accident the mum looses her no claims. They wouldn't allow us to protect it.
  21. For a new V1505 TW spec you will be looking at about £2.5k + vat. How bad is the old one? These guys do rebuilds / used exchange etc: [email protected]. http://www.jemengines.co.uk. You could also try Universal Engine Power in Essex 01371 875331. We get our new ones here. May have shop soiled or warranty repaired engines in stock. Worth a try. Regards Mike
  22. If its leaning towards the motor you need to check the fixing on the bottom motor. If these come loose it can elongate the holes in the motor causing it to lean and make a noise. it is also common for the top stud to fall out completely. If it is missing it is usually due to the fact it has been running loose and damaged the thread in the roller box. If this is the case drill and retap to a M12 and use a M12 x 30 cap head bolt to secure the motor. As a note to everyone it doesn't hurt to check these every time you change the blades. A 5 min job and can save you a £300 motor + labour and down time. As for greasing, the hole drilled through the middle of the roller usually blocks as the grease goes hard. Removing the hyd motors and grease nipples and blowing through with compressed air or pushing through a long thin screwdriver will clear the tube and the grease will get where it's meant to go. Again a job that should only take half an hour but will save you penny's later.
  23. :001_tongue:Add a curly wig and a scouse accent and you will be sorted:001_tongue:
  24. Sorry Johnny. Got one myself. Finding them a bit hard to sell at the mo. People are worried about parts long term etc. Don't think its a prob personally. Will let you know if mine goes and I have more interest.

    Regards Mike
