  1. Well to start traveller is a word the settled people called the travellers! Irish travellers in there own tongue call themselves Pavee or Mincier and English travellers call themselves Romanichal or more recently Rromani and as for Gypsy, its old English for Gyptian, the first Romaichals encountered in the 1500's were either thought to or claimed to come from Egypt. Throw that dictionary in the bin
  2. Did anyone ask the Gypsy/traveller if he agreed with that definition......... If I were you mate I'd sling that dictionary in the bin............. Here's a mere fraction of the Gypsy world community, the cultures are so close they all get lumped together, and titled Gypsy or traveller Gypsy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Could you spot the differences between a Housa from Nigeria and a Xhsona from South Africa? hence we call them all Africans, but they fully understand the differences in each community
  3. Definitely Mike, the government want to keep tabs on us all, at all times! hence we have so much CCTV in the UK, and they certainly don't want part of the populace nomadic , and god forbid earning a bit of cash or living an alternative lifestyle that doesn't involve us getting into huge amount of debt, in other words a mortgage at around 20 times your annual salary. Big debt and mortgage only serve one man and thats big business..... See Mike if its OK for Mr Gypsy traveller to live outside of conventional living standards [though not so unconventional in the USA or Australia] IE a house and free himself from financial slavery, why shouldn't others do the same? a big percentage of the economy rely's the housing industry, the last thing the big money men want is us all living in mobile homes, in the countryside with our familys and animals around us enjoying life [debt free] that just isn't good for business!
  4. When is a ''legal'' caravan park, not a ''legal'' caravan park? when a Traveller buys it of course! the licence gets revoked..BBC NEWS | UK | Gypsy experiment faces eviction
  5. Well you learn something everyday as the saying goes........... Anti-Gypsy protestors told to get planning permission
  6. Can you show me where the land with planning permission for caravan occupancy is? other than holiday parks [you can only live on between May and October] or yards already owned by travellers [fortunate enough to have land passed for caravan occupancy] the way planning works for everyone, is you buy the land then take the gamble, maybe you'll get planning, maybe you won't, would you like to hazard a guess what the stats are for travellers gaining permission? As for the comment about why not live in houses, how would you like to be forced to give up your culture and be forced into a caravan? living in caravans isn't illegal in this country or living a nomadic lifestyle, though you'd be forgiven for thinking it was! the only reason travellers are so often refused planning permission is because the government is scared everyone will cotton on and choose a similar cheaper alternative lifestyle, resulting in fewer house being built and less money for the fat cats!
  7. A big grinder with operator should be around the £300 per day mark imo, after all it only costs £250 for a new JCB with driver for a day around here, the days of big money for stump grinding are long gone.
  8. Good and bad in all mate, around here big developers have on numerous occasions bought farms and agricultural land and gained planning consent, see if the traveller or the man on the street can turn farm land into a building plot, divide and rule is what our governments want.............
  9. Yes mate and all you settled Irish are terrorists who set car bombs that kill little kids and pregnant women! green and orange alike!
  10. Price per inch is the wrong way to go, two 12 inch stumps are not the same area as one 24 inch stump the 24'' stump is bigger
  11. Why should people be forced to live in an alien environment and in a lifestyle they don't want, travellers don't want free land they have means and money, and can quite comfortably buy there own, what they do want is a fair crack at planning permission. The ignorance and prejudice shown in this thread is unbelievable.............
  12. What do you mean GIVEN land to live on? they BUY the land then try and obtain planning permission, its not illegal to live in a caravan in this country, unless like a thread there was on here a while back with some members hid up in woods and land etc with no planning consent.
  13. Nope kept it in the end, I have sold four or five other vehicles in the last few years though........
  14. Looks good Steve, now somebody please buy my truck
  15. No disrespect but you can do a fair amount of damage to a tree with an Air-Spade and especially if your ''throwing on fert'' if you don't have the experience or really know what your doing. One tip never Air-Spade or decompact a trees entire rootzone for obvious reasons..........
  16. This is traveller on traveller intimidation, its known as taxing extortion in other words, some lowlife travellers do this full time for a living, they're trying to force the man off of his yard so the ''taxers'' as they are known can use it or sell it...............
  17. I hope you put them in straight, I liked the big stamp rather than the little stamps
  18. With fuel prices like this you wouldn't want to be running a 3120 all day ringing up......
  19. Good link thanks, though the peak oil discovery dates are wrong I have a friend who manufactures specialist parts for the oil drilling industry, his company is the world leader in the production of certain specialist parts, he told me that running out of oil/peak oil will not be happening any time soon, or indeed in our great great grand children's lifetime.... I'll take his word over anyone's on this subject!
  20. You sure you haven't just been eating beans?
  21. Don't forget lads, there are genuine sensible price rises beyond our control, and price rises that take the urine out of the customer, rises that might see them get there wood from elsewhere..........
  22. Scientists Prove Abiotic Oil Is Real!
  23. We're all being mugged as oil won't be running out any time soon! some geologists and oil experts say it might never ever run out! I read that the oil wells in Saudi are filling back-up not instead of depleting.....
  24. Snap...............except we were sitting under a tree in the shade..............
  25. Hi how reliable is the testing kit?
