  1. Too cheap mate i'd say with your chipper you should charge £180 and you should be on £15 per hour for ground work imo
  2. It's Gotta Stay!
  3. To put it bluntly, anyone charging less than £380+vat per day for a 2 man, chipper and 3.5 ton truck should imo seek medical attention!
  4. I love attacking the AA... In the 20 ish years i've been in the business, I can't see what the AA has done for the smaller contractor! All I know is, every time the ''powers that be'' come up with more regulations and legislations the AA accept the lot hook line and sinker! Where were they when insurers would no longer insure new firms, and insurers jacked up the price for established companys puting a good few out of business! know where thats where! insurers looked upon the AA as a joke! claiming to represent the industry with there handfull of beleivers [a few approved contractors, consultants and paltry amount of members] Even a few hard and fast worshipers are now having doubts about the AA thanks to there new cash cow of making approved contractors jump through the hoops every 5 years, calling it a reassesment lol. One big hyped up load of tosh imo, they can shove all their expensive courses etc they aren't for for me on principle! One other thing whilst i'm ranting do you know the AA show is the ''most'' expensive uk arb show to exhibit at by far! how they have the cheek to charge punters to get into it, is beyond me! And why is the show held at such an obscure part of the British isles, surely anyone with half a brain would opt for a centralized locality...
  5. I was referring to mogs having ''front'' mounted chippers, if you you ask me they should be classed as needing an escort vehicle whilst driving from A-B!
  6. I disagree with you on this one mate
  7. fractometers went out with the ark mate, along with core samplers!
  8. thats what I wrote isn't it Andy?.....
  9. your local Iveco dealer?
  10. I wonder why we never see anyone on these forums from the AA! I'll be calling the AA tomorrow, the way I read about the course it seemed to me it was 2 days of or 2.5 days of report writing, with training etc and maybe a short exam paper at the end! We are talking about the Lantra course run through the AA aren't we? The course advertised here http://www.trees.org.uk/course.php I notice the course has been somewhat re-worded since I saw it advertised earlier in the year!
  11. I reckon i'll get a bigger tractor next year with roof mount or trailer crane, I was going to get a lorry and hi-ab, you just can't get a decent crane on a 7.5 tonner.
  12. Nothing worse than working with a dope smoker, I will never allow drink or drugs on the job, come to work too hung over and give me that old i'm hungover routine too many times and that will get you the boot as well! I packed in the dope months ago, never was a big smoker, I never got much out of it! and I only drink one night on the weekend..
  13. good job they're putting in a borehole, wouldn't want irrigation from the mains supply then get a hosepipe ban

  19. I hear there is going to be a fuel blockade this weekend, I went to Morrisons today they were queing like mad for fuel, BP run out and so did Sainsburys.. I'm filled up, full tank in both trucks, 100 litres of red in cans and 30 litres of petrol in cans Has anyone else heard about a fuel blockade? I was told trucks are going to bring London to a standstill on Saturday!
  20. i've seen 90' ash but never 90' macrocarpa, most trees over 100' get hit by lightning
  21. I look at topping as a good breading ground for fungi, and other flora and fauna..lol It helps me sleep better
  22. I gave up on trying my hardest to educate the ignorant years ago, these days I explain what the best thing to do with there trees is, If they still look all vague and not convinced I tell them, if you want me to top em i'll do it its up to you, at the same time I give them a silly price! I read about a bloke who tried to educate the divs for years, near on 50 years, his name was Alex Shigo, hes in his box and trees are still being topped all over the world daily, we will never change human nature!
  23. not the area mate its the market!
  24. Madclimber why not hook-up with a local experienced bloke for this job? you've got mattyf and Blue on here, and they aren't too far from you! I'll give you a bit of advice! once you've got a name for being cheap it sticks! you'll work all your life for F-ALL i've seen plenty get know where in this game and on the same token i've seen blokes make a fortune. Best of luck, i'd definatly consider brining in an experienced bloke for a job like this if I were you.
  25. I agree way way way too low!
