  1. cheers mate
  2. never been please give me the run down on how I might get a ticket or two?
  3. I have an IPAF mewp ticket , and totally disagree, whilst on the course we saw some pics of horrific accidents, the number one safety message the instructer forced down our throats was DO NOT USE A MEWP AS A CRANE OR OVER LOAD IT, and I too have vast experience using them, it takes very little to set the alarm off, a good gust of wind, and we could be reading a whole different thread, If anyone used a mewp as a crane on the sites I work on you'd be down the road sharp! IMO if vduben needed a crane one should have been priced into the job period, if whoever priced the job knew a crane was need why wasn't one priced in? no tree is worth a life or serious injury ever!
  4. MEWPS are still not to be used as a crane, however big the branch was
  5. I'll get a pic of 'Gaffer' in the morning, for those who haven't seen him he,s a Bullmastiff, for those that saw him as a pup, he's grown i'm guessing he's touching 10 stone these days and hes got a bit to grow being only a year old
  6. no one liked my little joke then?
  7. I don't think so Ed, a sheet piling rig we were working alongside just before xmas cost 750k
  8. keep my gob shut and take the money if the work is from a survey, if not i'll advise, if they take my advice good if not , not my problem. Off topic but i've seen some pretty dumb things on so called consultants surveys, wound paint, 50% reductions etc.....Lots of surveyers are landscapers or a bod from a property managment company and have no arb quals or experience at all, and it makes me sick!
  9. You'll find out what I mean , when you finish college and try and find a job in this game.. I'm not saying students are cowboys not at all, i'm saying they're to many arb stundent in college, and not enough jobs in the industry,I get a phone call or a CV in the post from a newly qualified arborist seeking employment week in week out..
  10. pm pete mctree
  11. I DIDN'T LIKE THE CRANE WORK PIC! THAT'S A TIP-OVER WAITING TO HAPPEN! have you got a ticket to use a mewp?
  12. Nobody will sell any farmland unless its only fit for sheep and floods yearly, for less the 30k an acre, well not around here thats for sure..
  13. Is this what your after Andy http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=VQXECBdPgEA A KILLER olivia NEWTON-john song......
  14. and what a joke it is! the uk is still made up of 80% countryside, the population of the uk estimated at between 59-62 million could all fit on something like 4 acres, we have 60 million acres on land and 60 million people, with the average house hold containing 3 people, every household in the UK could own 3 acres of land, obviously I understand the more spread out we are the more infastructure we would need, but i'm damn sure we don't need to be all cooked like we are,off the topic I don't understand why on earth this country grows arable crops, no wonder farmers need subsidys, less unproductive farming and bigger homes or homes out side of pilchard tin development zones I say! Too many big landowners out there imo, here is an intersting article http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4158/is_20070409/ai_n18998022
  15. oh well it looks like chiropractors, do have their benefits, i wouldn't chance using one though unless ALL else failed that is...
  16. Don't shoot the messenger, i'm just repeating what a world renowned back specialist said on national TV.. I won't be going to a chiropractor..
  17. No chance of that kind of thing in this country, we have laws, rules, regulations, legislations etc you know, especialy where building a new home or setting up a business is concerned..
  18. I've got my very own yard, 4.8 acres, plenty of room for chip, logs etc, its got barns, a stable block , water, telephone line, electric... troubles is its 33miles from home/base anyone want to hire it....
  19. Chiropractors going on a tv program I saw years ago are nothing but quacks! a leading back specialist [medicaly trained] said chiropractors do far more damage than good, I remember he said, does all that bone crunching and clicking sound good to you!
