  1. Not funny - http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/london/3534320.stm
  2. Been at it too long Reg?
  3. Arborlord - if the aly sheet is folded and welded, you wont need the angle iron. The folding will give it its inherent stiffness.
  4. Spot on advice about trailers Rupe. Bigger chipper? if your selling lots of firewood, waste of time. Steve, if you had a 3.5 tonne trailer, you could pull 3 tonnes of wood behind your LDV. Would probably burst the engine, but you get the picture If you do see a splitter you like, its a piece of cake to put a road legal towing kit under it. I would take the opportunity to put a toolbox on it aswell.
  5. If you want high speed with high power, you need a 2 stage pump. At the end of the day, you get what you pay for. Here's the Rolls Royce...

    NFU mutual.
  7. Nettie, Call AHS and get an 8 wheeler load delivered. It will be much better quality than arb chips, not full of leaves. http://www.ahsrecycling.com/
  8. Personally, I have never laid a membrane, or even cardboard. I have just put a good mulch layer down on the grass out to the dripline.
  9. Zoicks. Think I'll stick with a mallet and a good ear...
  10. I knew it had to be written down somewhere. I just find it ridiculous that no one in HSE could find me the regs, or even knew about them.
  11. Auto cycle= place log, and pull lever once. Splitter will push completely out and return without you touching it. http://www.timberwolfcorp.com/log_splitters/video.asp?id=13

    Ouch

this is the way to deal with the foliage. If you need the recipe for Napalm, I can PM it. Thermite works well too. [ame]http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=GgYpRpiZmf0&feature=related[/ame]
  13. HA! I used a foot pedal splitter for YEARS from about 10 years old onwards without incident. You should try the american versions with auto-cycle - even better! I am yet to find ANY documented rules from HSE regarding two handed use of splitters. I spent an hour on the phone with them, met them down at Stoneliegh, and nobody could give me any documented details on it.
  14. Haha dean, Blow that trumpet ( no one else will)... Your probably like me, your willing to have a go at doing anything. Nice work on the Velux's.

    Chogging down

oh no! I started this same thread 6 months ago and it had to be shut down...
  18. I looked at those truck bodies in the TCI mags for years. I sent off to schodorf and arbortech for their brochoures and just sort of copied them. Yes my merc is a 7.5 toner, but its footprint is barely larger than a transit. I can get 11 m3 of chip in, carry 4 tonnes, pull a 3.6 tonne trailer and do 70mph fully loaded. The problem you wil have with doing the same with a transit is overloading. I would build the body entirely from 3mm folded alloy, have no toolbox, and give it a maximum capacity of 6 m3.
  19. All our own work apart from the spraying. Built at our workshop in Measham.
  20. heres mine. can build you one if you want. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=2636
