  1. Grange is great, we do our shopping there. By all means come and visit us - were there for the next 3 weeks.
  2. The Bog is quite dry in a lot of places, lots of meliniana grass growing, but in other places you'll dissapear if you tread in the wrong spot. Your right though, just walking on that site sorts the men from the boys. I am yarding out to over 400m in places. I can do full suspension logging, even on the flat ground, but it requies tip + butt chaining, which is very time consuming. As for the helicopter vs skyline, its like asking if a helicopter would be better than a toaster for making toast. A timber yarder is designed for timber extraction, a helo is'nt. Plus I own a skyline yarder, and dont own a helicopter... Although I am in the process of buying a MIL Mi26
  3. Well, we've a lot to boast about with this job:wink: And I'll let you post the pics of the temporarily stuck digger...
  4. I think you mean SILAGE You deserved that...
  5. You mean a talkie tooter? Too advanced for us. We usually use smoke signals, or if in a hurry, a carrier pigeon.
  6. Feel free to pop in Richard, We'll be there for a while yet
  7. Thank you Dean, I think I am. Pro Video taken.... Not finished yet. Got another 3 months of this job. Helicopter =£600 an hour. Skyline crew = £100 per hour. You do the math...
  8. Some of you know well of my latest escapade... Thought I'd share some pics of our latest Job. We were contracted to clear the invasive species from a very sensative nature reserve. The site is a raised bog on DEEP peat, is a SSSI, and is a bit of a jewel to the client. Therefore, strictly no machines on the bog - even if you dared to, there is very little that would'nt sink out of site on here. So, we decided to use a cable yarder to skyline extract everything. Talk about steep learning curve! Spar trees ripped out the ground, snapped in half, stumps popped like corks, steel cables snapped (and field spliced together again) and 101 other problems, we are now a crack cable logging crew. We've also proved that it is perfectly feasable to work the wettest of sites, without taking on machinery.
  9. I can give Viki a 100% recomendation, she has worked for me on several contracts and I can confirm that she is an excellent member of staff with a great attitude.
  10. The 700 series is built by CSF for compact power llc, and branded as a boxer. Richard, I have log grabs.
  11. I cannot rate these machines highly enough. Absolutely superb for treework. I manufacture quite a few specialised implements for these machines, much better than the standard ones they come with. Here's the stumpgrinder we make... [ame] [/ame]
  12. Thanks mate, I saw that one, but mine has the folding hopper

  13. Laddish criticisms? from us? shurly shome mishtake!
