  1. Been using mine again today without, but with the roller speed set at half way on the valve, its amazing what it will take! We have always had it on full before:blushing:
  2. Yes Billy, that could be a good reason! Lets hope thats it! The main fuse runs direct from the ignition, so check its live either end of the fuse holder, mine had corroded and was giving an intermittant signal at one stage!
  3. Cheers Tom, looks like the magnetic pick up i need, may try them if i find out the volts etc I need.
  4. Will do tomorrow, there's lots of paint on it but will give it a go. Price sounds a bit more reasonable than 120 plus post!
  5. Cheers bud, mine is one of the later ones, its a 2003/4 machine. Not sure on make of jiggery box, but its a sealed one fixed on the inside of the lower bonnet, with two seperate looms coming out of it:thumbup:
  6. Goes onto the engine block, its a magic eye that rads the speed of the flywheel, and switches the no-stress on and off as the speed increases and decreases:thumbup1:
  7. The rate we are going, Im gonna have to buy you a large beer! Not real sure how to find out any detail on the sensor, it seems to have no markings on it, and the end is a tad smashed(if there was anything on there, its gone) Seems something has picked up on the flywheel and hit the end! Next job is to dig out what ever is floating around the bell housing:001_rolleyes:
  8. Can anyone point me in the right direction where I can find one? Perhaps someone knows of suppliers of such, knows of others that will fit, or even has one laying around. Oh, and yes, I have tried Vermeer!
  9. Thats a usual steady night out, and I'm not joking!
  10. Nothing wrong with that one Mike, if there'd been a skid steer on the rope everyone would have been singing his praises:thumbup:
  11. I hate to shatter all your fond illusions of this machine. Its plastic! Yep, it still has not been made yet and all the photos of it are camera trickery. There was a few plastic moulds made of this machine and thats it. Not that it isnt coming out, it will do, and probably earn more sales for LR than the present outdated dinosour, and thats the important bit. Although the PR is all about the greener planet, moving with the times and reducing expensive production costs, its not the reason for the defender being replaced, its pure sales numbers. The defender is currently LRs lowest selling unit so they will want to improve its productivity and therefore profit. The defender can never be the highly sucessful seller it was before the release of the shopping trolly. All that said, Im gonna start buying up any defenders I can as once its stopped, second hand ones will earn money sat in the garage:001_rolleyes: As Tom says though, if its got all the pluses the defender has, I'd have one!
  12. Many thanks, sounds straight forward enough provided they haven't changed any rules or regs. I think some final double checking next week on the phone may be a good idea and see if its still a goer the way you managed it:thumbup:
  13. Cheers, many thanks. Did you manage to get another "official" plate made up, and what sort of cost was involved with DVLA & VOSA?
  14. A lot depends if you can sell your stock without him. If you can, no discount. If you have spare, its your decision. That would be based on how close he is to you(catchment area/competition), can you still make profit, how quick he pays, does it all fit in with your day to day, etc, etc.
  15. Have had a look Brett and its a nice truck, but Im not VAT reg, and in total that truck comes in over 13k for me. Im looking at trucks 3-5 years newer with less miles and one owner for 5-6k without tipper. Dont panic Bob, I wont be driving it!!!! Now thats the type of thing I was after. Did you need to fit any parts? Done that mate, seems to be more help here TBH! This could explain why there are some landies around that have 3499kgs on the log book, but still a 3050 plate on the servo. Only trouble is, if stopped by VOSA at roadside, its the plate they will go by if put over a bridge, so Im with you on trying to get the "proper" plate.
  16. Some very good replies, just give me a minute! Lol!
  17. Hi Pete, are you talking about upgrading to a 3499kg 110? If so, have you done it, whats involved with DVLA and such?
  18. The difference in weight is negligable between wheelbases compared to 3050/3499kg gross. I would prefer something a little lower mileage, I'm tight and think about resale value after Ive put another stack of miles on top of its present mileage. Cheers for input though:thumbup1: I'm off for a looksee now Matt, cheers:thumbup:
  19. Here's the story. Looking for a 110 for tree surgery work. Will end up with tipper conversion if not already fitted. Been looking at anything agewise really but would like to keep final budget below £10k. This would include probably £3k for the tipper conversion. A couple of questions; Ive noticed there doesnt seem to be any td5 hi caps around that are 3499kg gross, but plenty of tdi's. Have I been looking in the wrong places, or is there a reason for this, like were they standard earlier and not now? I do need the larger payload. Got chance of a couple of good td5 hi caps but 3050kg gross, so is it possible to get them uprated? Would be nice if you have absolute knowledge on this one! Have looked at 130's but seems a fair task to find a single cab at reasonable money without 200k on the clock! Feel free to throw any comments in if you think its relevant Cheers in advance, Pete.
  20. Not really bothered about the "spiking politics" really, much of its been covered before, and still no one has been able to give a positive answer to my question "How many of you have ever experienced a tree that has either been killed by spiking, or even been put into decline as a result of it and caused major defects or its premature removal?" Room for thought? So, on a positive note Liam, great to see your pics as usual mate. On the part of the winch, I note you pulled straight from the landy into the tree. I guess there wasnt much pull needed in this case and was just a safeguard, but a tip for you would be to run the cable through a block secured to ground source(like a tree) in front of the landy. This will give the truck much better purchase when pulling, and not "lift" to the front of the truck. Keep the pics coming young 'un!
  21. You want to hire mine? I know of at least 3 large hire firms within 10 miles of my house I can hire one from for £50 a day or £200 a week. When pricing work around here its quite standard to put a truck in the price at £40 per day and £0.50 per mile after usual work meeting point, ie, mileage over and above that that you would normally do if you didnt hire the truck in.
  22. That looks a very nice landy for its age. Not many like that around. TBH, I wouldnt touch the paint, its authentic and doesnt look out of place. Sounds like you appreciate its origionality, so would the next owner:thumbup1:
