The bits in bold are the important bit. Although a bit on the vague side, this in my interpretation is referring to commercial trees. I have pruned (both fruit & reduction pruning) many fruit trees in CA's and always filled in the section 211. At no point has the LA ever pointed out there was no need for notification. On that basis I'd always send a 211, also given the few minutes it takes to do.

According to EH there are. From memory, its something like 9am 'till 5pm Mon to Fri and 9am to 1pm Sat. NOTHING ON A SUNDAY! The assumtion you mention above, is the reason people dont complain about builders. They just assume they are aloud to start chop saws etc at 7.30am and work the whole weekend if they wish. The EH will only act on complaints received.

If you ask the environmental health, you will find they dont allow any "noise" on a Sunday. In order for a complainant to be successful in stopping said noise though, it has to be declaired " a nuisance". That entails repeated and recorded occurrence, so the one off is unlikely to stand up in court.

Wrong. They are not commercial. If in a garden they need same notification as any other tree, unless being used for commercial benefit. Edit; This also applies even for "fruit pruning" if the trees are above the required girth. Contrary to belief. .

It comes under employers liability mate. Dont put too much emphasis on "employed" though, voluntary work also requires you to have EL insurance. Give your current insurer a call, they should be able to cover these works.

The 200 is an old saw now, perhaps as a big user of toppers a newer version maybe worth looking into. Keep up with the times brother, the 201 is the future:thumbup1: Chains are only "caught" if they "come off". The main causes for a saw throwing a chain are bad maintainance or bad use practice. Are the guys keeping upto speed or just hammering these saws because they are over the hill? Not being funny mate, it does happen when kit gets old.

On a side note Paul, you know of one person who's been asked now, as our dealer has taken proof of quals for many years. I think they even keep a copy for future reference.

Yes, hence the.... It is the responsibility of your dealer to record your candidate number from your NPTC certs when purchasing a topper. I believe Stihl UK have recently been tightening up on this, as they have a certain duty of care to ensure operators have the relevant experience/quals/PPE etc when selling a saw.

What is a 200mx mate? I've never had a bandit but have been looking into them lately. One thing I have noticed is they have a variable intake roller speed that will go upto 90 feet an minute, thats 18" per second! I fell there must have been another reason it was slow pulling stuff in? When you say "icing on the cake" what other points would you say were negatives?

Have you had your 201 retuned and checked over? If they are not running spot on it makes a huge difference.

Lol! I think there was someone on here who had the rear handle mate, and were very chuffed with it so far. (cant remeber the thread it was on though!) If it packs a punch in its own wee way, it'll be a belter for those little pruning jobs:thumbup:
