  1. The size may or may not be an issue in the woods, but assuming this one is 4WD the turning circle WILL be! If I remember correct, it's a 2640 with a turbo giving it another 20hp. There was a bigger version still, the 2720 but not sure on hp. They are a beast as mentioned above, the single door puts some folk off but if you bought it and kept it a few years it would certainly earn its keep and loose little money. Good hard working beast.
  2. It really is no big issue. The earlier ones lacked low end grunt. As I say an auto is unlikely to suffer the stalling issues I've experienced with a defender manual.
  3. I'd agree there is a difference in the motors, having had both early and late versions in the defender. However, in the discovery, I don't think the jump in price to the face lifted (52 reg onwards) would be justified simply for the smoother running later version. I also would say with an auto, the differences would be virtually unnoticeable.
  4. I'm just taking the mick as usual:thumbup:
  5. I often think to myself, surely there can't be any more decent subjects that haven't been discussed on arbtalk before. This is another that reassures me I'm right:001_rolleyes:
  6. Mozza on here is your man, I think his maybe for sale too.
  7. Anyone know of any border collie pups for sale?
  8. Haha, don't take me too seriously mate! I know exactly where you are coming from, had enough of them like it. Guess I'm lucky now having a top crew where everyone mucks in, has a laugh and goes home knowing they've earned their coin and pulled their weight. Take most of what I say tongue in cheek, there's usually some sense behind what I'm saying, it's usually the guys who are used to my sense of humour who can tell I'm on a wind:thumbup:
  9. Why is it expected a climber should have a rake ticket? In my book, boss shouts and pays bills, climber climbs and kills tree, brash rat drags brash and rakes. Where's the confusion?
  10. I was hoping if I went to church for a few weeks I would get a free one!
  11. I can see why you had problems with the landy mate!
  12. Sure, get the truck sorted but don't go without that 560. Its part of the modern package mate, no real arb co should be without one!
  13. Sounds like all you need is a 560 then and rebuild the 260(as you will need it when the 261 breaks down) Oh, and if you can still get a 660 snap it up!
  14. Well for a start I'd avoid the 261, and the 362 for that too. There getting fewer good stihls available now tbh, but the 660 is a good 'un. Oh, hang on, that one's gone too now, errrrm, yeh, ok looks like its the 461, that's said to be a good saw. As for the other one's I guess you'll have to come into the light and get the orange ones mate:thumbup:
  15. You're almost sounding old school there Dan! Many of you young 'uns maybe wont remember the days of one saw does all, back in the 1980's! As a full on felling gang we had 3 saws, a 181 with a 16" bar, a 181 with a 20" bar and a 181 with a 28" bar. There wasn't much variety then but they did all we needed!
  16. Here's one to wet your appetite, there aren't many around for this kind of money so guess it will soon go; Land Rover 110 TD5 Hi-cap Pickup | eBay
  17. Only wish I had more time to visit shows like that, not always top of the wife's day out wish list though! Lol!
  18. Not sure, I dare say if he had it for sale it would of been more than that. I think it's 13 reg and the wheels alone will have been 6 or 7k. I saw it before he got all arches and winch fitted but looked awesome!
  19. Lol! The first is mine, the second is copied off a coffee mug:001_rolleyes:
  20. Good thread this. I always wanted something witty but couldn't find one suitable so made my own:blushing:
  21. Dan. Did you take lots of pics? Just wondering if you saw my mates 110. It's a new black utility with massive wheels and all the kit bolted on, and he had a stall there selling all sorts landy? Reason I ask is he just finished modding it last week and not seen it yet.
