  1. Not sure fella, not heard of that one:confused1: Perhaps try it on tuesday on Dans pineapple ring
  2. Another point worth bearing in mind is, generally i have found if you test fresh split logs there is a massive difference between logs, but if its been split a few weeks then re-split to test, the variation is much smaller. This being, say timber thats been stacked for six months then split may be between 20 and 35% moisture. After another couple of months it may be between 18 and 26% moisture.
  3. Some very interesting points there woodrascal! I personally would go with a center of log reading every time as its the greatest volume of wood per log, and therefore must be the truest reading. As for the those promoting 9-12%, very sneaky and unrealistic. The point about how hard to push the prongs is also valid. There doesnt seem to be any advice on this in any instructions, although these meters are primarily for testing wood:sneaky2:
  4. Mmmm, strangely the saws have all been romoved or sold now:sneaky2: In all fairness, i believe the smaller stihl was a 200 series not a 300
  5. Nice shots, Betula is my favourite, almost as if it was taken in black and white:thumbup1:

Yeh, possibly so in surgery Nige, but i would say its also an excellent forestry felling saw. Not sure if anyone else thinks Stihl have gone a bit erattic the last few years but they seem to have superseeded some saws in a range and not others, and then update the more modern saw again:confused1:
  7. Give us a clue then, what are they:confused1: Just curious as im thinking of upgrading from my flip flops and they look cool:sneaky2:

Is your source reliable? Not having a go, just is a bit strange knowing how keen the new anti vibe laws are here, i thought the UK market would have been a sure bet for it if its better trigger time than the 361. That asside, even if it does come to the UK, i think it will be another year or two before we see it.
  9. I got this one at the beginning of this season, seems fine. Less than £20! Kamasa Mini Moisture Tester - Machine Mart As for accuracy, its best to split the log then test the fresh split surface. You can get a difference of upto 5-10% between logs on the same pile, so if the meter is within 1-2% accurate it will be near enough!
  10. Some eerie looking trees there in the mist Sean, almost looks like they will come to life and wrap around you!
  11. As for upping a quote, ive never done it unless it was for something asked for as an "extra"
  12. Too right Dave, i am with you. My point was, somtimes we all make a hash of pricing and on the occasion i go overprice, if the customer gives me attitude or a hard time I will feel more obliged to take the full money. Whereas, if they are real sound folk and look after you, you can see them right too. Not always about offering money off, but sometimes doing that bit extra pruning or take out that little shrub if you have time. Perhaps i am from the other side of the hill from you, but still a Yorkshireman too.
  13. Suprising what a cheeky smile from an old dear can do to you, a few cups of tea and a couple of digestives go a long way:thumbup1: On the other hand if they were the type who said "Anyway, i must go back inside and let you get on because my coffee is getting cold" would you still have taken the money back:sneaky2:
  14. Here you go, took some pics of mine, but sounds like some of these harnesses dont have the lablel. Note the EN numbers are the same on side Ds as the gold rings; Note the do not remove!!!
  15. Sorry, but what has it got to do with the LOLER inspector where it came from? It is up to him to decide if its fit for use, not to assess viability of a seller:001_huh: That said I personally wouldnt buy a second hand one, after all, it may say new but i believe he is a private seller who has presumably purchased from a retailer. Therefore second hand value:sneaky2:
  16. :scared1: Were you not embarrassed?????? If i were the customer i think i might of told you where to go!
  17. Nice one Mozza, i believe the two ex Bartletts machines are actually the ones at global recycling at Newark, and there is only one left for sale now:sneaky2:
  18. Whats the "big chip website" Mozz?
  19. Seriously David, if you convert it into nets, call it £3-£3.50 per net equivellant
  20. Just throw 3 x 3 foot beech rings in her boot and say a tenner should cover it! Lol!
  21. They also have a twin axle one thats newer, and a 9" Vermeer single axle:sneaky2:
  22. I have seen that particular machine and it has had extensive work done to it and looks quite tidy for its age.
  23. Not sure why its not generally sold here Al, same as a lot of things, as you say, we do seem to be a little restricted here sometimes. I found a guy over here selling oregon and windsor bars and chain who does skip. Quite reasonable too. I wonder what the health and safety issues are over here using skip chain as its not officially available:confused1: If the reason is due to kickback, i would say its an arguable point as you really only use skip on longer bars, yet the shorter bars have higher risk of kickback. Where is Bob when you need him?
  24. The gold rings are rated the same as the main D's. It says so on the label stitched to the harness, you know, the one near the main D that says "do not remove this label":sneaky2:
