  1. Lets face it, if it was the lads hinge we could make allowancies for a young 'un.....but it doesnt sound like it was:lol:
  2. I was going to say that Bob but didnt want to bruise his ego. But as you have started, i would have added, he pulled a splinter out of the log, so thats ruined the end of that plank:001_tt2:
  3. :001_rolleyes: There really is no hope is there:001_huh:
  4. Glad you lot think they're ok, i collect my 935 tomorrow:blushing: Oh, and B-Trac is now Vermeer UK.
  5. Do you advertise "25 liters when packaged"?:lol:
  6. Just for you Rupe, this is my V8 before the rebuild;
  7. Now thats a place to be if you are hip and trendy, believe me, i have been there:lol:

  9. Not tight Stevie, just thick:001_tt2: Whats a ropeguide:confused1:
  10. Was there something wrong with the link i put up, 2 posts before Jonesies:confused1:
  11. Muntjac doesnt look right somehow Muntiacus reevesi - Chinese Muntjac Deer
  12. Just found this site. Fascinating if nothing else but heres a Meles Meles scull; Badger Skull
  13. Looks a bit long faced/jawed for canine to me. Shame the feet are missing.
  14. Badger, and probably left there by poachers. Around here when Badger bating was common 20+years ago, poachers used to go onto land where game keepers were keen, kill the badgers then leave them hung up on fences, gates and trees to annoy the keepers and land owners.
  15. Theres a thought steve. Guess that would get over the risk of gates rubbing and side loading?
  16. Yeh, sorry the pic is real poor Bob! The tails on the fishermans are about an inch long, but must be on the underside in the photo. As for the crabs, i only set them with gates facing away from the stem. The main concern i have, is about the cord on the webbing, but didnt think about wear Bob, it was more on the purchase it has. Im thinking of the way the prussik naturally works, but the webbing is quite square. Hope that makes sense?
  17. I have a cresto 1 meter cambium saver thats sometimes a bit too long, ie, when working close to your anchor. I already have a pulley on crab instead of the small ring, but recently put on this old hip prussik and crab. Can you guys see anything wrong with using this set-up? It is definately a cheaper alternative than buying a complete new rig! Feel free to comment;
  18. Not sure fella, not heard of that one:confused1: Perhaps try it on tuesday on Dans pineapple ring
  19. Another point worth bearing in mind is, generally i have found if you test fresh split logs there is a massive difference between logs, but if its been split a few weeks then re-split to test, the variation is much smaller. This being, say timber thats been stacked for six months then split may be between 20 and 35% moisture. After another couple of months it may be between 18 and 26% moisture.
  20. Some very interesting points there woodrascal! I personally would go with a center of log reading every time as its the greatest volume of wood per log, and therefore must be the truest reading. As for the those promoting 9-12%, very sneaky and unrealistic. The point about how hard to push the prongs is also valid. There doesnt seem to be any advice on this in any instructions, although these meters are primarily for testing wood:sneaky2:
  21. Mmmm, strangely the saws have all been romoved or sold now:sneaky2: In all fairness, i believe the smaller stihl was a 200 series not a 300
  22. Nice shots, Betula is my favourite, almost as if it was taken in black and white:thumbup1:

    Yeh, possibly so in surgery Nige, but i would say its also an excellent forestry felling saw. Not sure if anyone else thinks Stihl have gone a bit erattic the last few years but they seem to have superseeded some saws in a range and not others, and then update the more modern saw again:confused1:
  24. Give us a clue then, what are they:confused1: Just curious as im thinking of upgrading from my flip flops and they look cool:sneaky2:
