  1. It's very easy to do and just like wagons Dean. Only thing to make sure is that the chipper is right on the deck that can prevent it rolling. Terrible news
  2. 10am officially but you'll get in upto an hour before that. Any drama's say you've come to meet Matt at AHS
  3. Awfull Awfull news so sorry to hear this.Dean
  4. God i hate working on those so splitty and unpredictable to cut ! Not sure I'd bother with a crane to be honest. I'd just rig it down.
  5. It was pretty widespread destruction across the from the SW to SE corner of GB. Flooding wasn't an issue it was the wind. Tree hazard assesment wasn't heard of then and the managment of trees was at an all time lol due to depressed industries and goverment bodies not having the money to carry out necessary works. The main dmagae was done to mature and semi mature trees in my area nearly all hardwoods. The winds hit just before the trees had lost their leaves so wind sail effect was a big factor. We had another peiod of high winds areound 1990-or 92 but it was no where near on the scale of 87. 87 was a piddler compared to what you guys get in the states. It's just we were un-prepared for that kind of event. I woke up to horses running down the streets lol
  6. I lived right in the eye, I was 10 at the time and my Dad was a ranger on a canal we had no power for 2 weeks which didn't bother us as we had coal fired central heating and generators. I spent the 3 weeks my school was shut helping my dad clear up the 300 + mature trees we had down across the canal. I drove a 3.5 ton 360 pulling the trees out while they cut them up. All good experience
  7. Who works for Bartlets at Tockwith on here then ? Was over there a couple of weeks ago..
  8. Depending on which way you approach the chase traffic shouldn't be to bad.

Change from slicks to intermediates and you'll solve that problem lol
  11. Anyone going to the apf best take a 4x4 ! The carpark is 2-3 grassy hillside fields going to be fun if this rain continues !!
  12. Traffic should be ok but getting in / out of the show ground will be an ass. I'd expect excellent deals from all suppliers due to the economic down turn.
  13. Well I was deeply offended at the string of rude pm's I got !! Are you hung over lol ? !

  17. Mike there's a travel lodge type thing at Oxford Services just off the M40, that maybe you best bet, cheap and easy lol....
  18. 2 Hrs North of London, hmm, Oxford is probably your best bet Mike. Excellent coach link from Gatwick then straight onto the M40 for a 1:30 run to the APF.

    Saltex

No change their then Bullman, I thought you were supposed to project an air of sophistication now you run this site
  20. If anybody requires advice and contractors for woodland management and advice on harvesting for biomass feel free to drop me a PM I wish i owned my own wood, allways toyed with the idea but never had the cash
  21. Might be worth speaking to Nene Overland as they specialise in 4x4 preperation and deal in new and used nissans 4x4's. Wouldn't bother with an ARB bumper they are an arse to get hold of at the moment and very expensive for what they are. Could be worth looking at a demountable on a drop plate on the rear with an anderson plug for the electrics if you only need it for self-rescue etc.
  22. Farmi or TP, AT Osbourne in Romsey Hants or http://www.unimogs.co.uk for TP and Andrew Holmes in Wales for Farmi i believe.

    Moving Trees

I'd recommend Practicality Brown as well, give Alastair Beddell a call they are very experinced in moving mature trees. http://www.pracbrown.co.uk
  24. I'd have to agree after seeing Ed's working. I had a similar opinion to Oliver until then. Everything in arb kit is a compromise but articulated mini loader fills an awfull lot of holes if you can justify one which is easy as it'll cost less than one mans wages. I allways wanted one to send out on site with the Unimog.
