    Uniform

Well I'm with Stubby, I worked for a company that had a uniform policy, not complaint as they bought us Meindl boots and good quality trousers. We had 14 shirts 7 jumpers and 2 fleeces clean shirt to be worn every day. The problem was that if you had any original idea of your own you was considered a square peg trying to fit into a round hole. I have no ill feeling to the company a very professional outfit, just not for me. For me it's not the image that counts it's the quality and professionalism of the crew, uniform will not give you that.
  2. Sounds perfect to me, you do not want it to tight especially this time of year, there will always be a little sag in the brace and as far as I understand this is normal, your only limiting maximum movement whilst still allowing the limbs to move freely. It should not be used on obvious defects!
  3. How are you splicing it?
  4. It would be a shame if it is being taken out of production, it was better than an Art positioner. Seen some pics of the European Tree climbing comps, few climbers sporting the Cinch in that, so must of made it past their kit inspectors.
  5. That's the problem, it was drummed into me not to force the gate to stick open, you have to be realistic, I know they have poor gates as long as they click shut from just in front of the nose then I am happy. I choose not use to use them as a personal preference. We are going far of topic now.
  6. When I did my loler course I was not taught the unrealistic technique I've seen some guys use, so again possibly interpretation. Even though it's not my responsibility last night whilst loler'ing a kit I used graphite powder to free up 2 biners it only takes a minute. And again having said that DMM biners are crap and I no longer use them personally as I am to lazy to maintain them. Rock Exoctica and Petzl tri locks do not gum up so quickly.
  7. If Spiderjacking is Mario carting, then Hitchclimbing is Gran Tourismo
  8. Was that an Auto tune/ M-Tronic 441 you used? We run 441's and didn't ravage them but they were the standard versions, I hear the new mtronic ones are better.
  9. I like Loler it's exactly like what you have described only recorded. I bet you and Drew have kit that is all good quality and well maintained. Loler should be a positive thing used to improve standards and professionalism.
  10. It's just a theory of mine that Petzl may of made some changes to better suit the RW although it's probably just as likely another reason for the change. I never really thought that it's friction these devices need to function correctly more division of load, as in they do not work smoothly when carrying the full weight of a climber.
  11. It is CE approved but I cannot find out what EN, perhaps the kit inspector was getting confused with the first iterations of the device that had no CE mark so technically would void insurance at competitions. Whatever if the kit inspector says no it's no. As a personal choice I would use one in a secondary lanyard configuration without worry, as a primary life support less, but have done to descend out of a tree on an access line. And Ross I know what it is your getting at I have heard the same thing to although cannot remember the exact details, yet this can be said of so many items of kit/technics we use daily.
  12. Do not agree with that entirely, a Hitch, ZZ and the jacks in the European market are the few devices designed as work positioning tools which means both ascent and descent. I appreciate your point about the limb but that is the anchor point even an srt system needs that even if it does not rely on it for descent. Do you think the new ZZ was designed with the RW in mind? As they have increased the pivot radius on the link chain, I cannot figure why as it was fine before unless you used the device SRT with say a RW.
  13. To be honest I could say a lot of things about a lot of things to say a Cinch is unsuitable is Tosh. As a primary though it's not ideal.
  14. I think its a bit harsh to criticise the OP, whilst it is another classic thread I feel there has been some intresting points of view from the likes of Treequip for example. Flailing is an accepted practice which we do not bat an eye lid out now, in fact those type of tear cuts may even be beneficial. To say that line clearance is only about that and not appearance is wrong, a few years ago now we had some Utility guys sweep through the village and whilst some of the work was heavy on the domestic ornamental trees within range I saw them carry out fine reduction with Silky's and secateurs. Although this does seem like a rare crew and not seen with the bigger firms.
  15. I cannot see why a cinch is not fit for purpose either, I had heard some had problems with the reliability of the pivot rivet, but cannot confirm or link to any proof just hear say and rumour like everything. And Drew a hitch is very suitable and has been tested as such thanks to the people behind the CE lanyard and CE climb. I wore my cinch out in 3 years use, it's a great bit of kit, but have since gone back to a hitch and forgotten how much I like it and how much more versatile it is.
  16. I don't see the problem it's highways all about clearance not appearance. Besides like Huck has mentioned its hawthorn they love it.
  17. Not sure if it's been mentioned, but if you ever get audited by HMRC they will find it suspicious if you do not have any cash sales.
  18. And good video with some useful advice, relevant to most harken winch based rigging devices.
  19. I second Explorer Arb on the smart winch, we have a GRCS have had it many years, and it is a fantastic bit of kit. If we were in the market for one now I'd get a smart winch.
  20. It's a bit of a beast nothing it cannot handle.

    Worn out saw?

Yes, also wear to the guide rails/burrs etc can have a big impact on how the saw cuts. I would be surprised if it is a worn clutch. Also consider it could be an MS180 which would really could struggle buried deep in hard wood particularly if the chain and bar are not spot on.
  22. Haha just tell it like it is, and I try to be all diplomatic and such. It does seem to be a lot of major fuss over a YouTube video, it's just some random guys video blog. I'm all to guilty of trying to portray myself as professional, and that's because I want to be Mike, I'm sick of being overloaded and not just with chip also pushing towing capacities, sick of the just get it done mentality, and being rewarded for doing something stupid and dodgy. But your right so few can honestly say they are perfect and by the book in everything they do, sometimes you just have to get it done.
  23. Speculation is all we have, so it's not really fair to get in arms about it.
