  1. Real nice job, and attention to detail, like it.
  2. A young climber its shocking, stay safe all.
  3. Now thats my style of sarcasm.
  4. I'm still availible, I can make you all proper coffee, and dish out sarcastic comments. And Tony i'm not slagging off your Jetboil, it boils water really fast thats for sure.
  5. Thanks for the heads up Frans, i'll make sure to stock up on the spf 50 this summer. On another note, i've been trying to read up on the Treemotion but can find little information regarding the wear of the leg straps, i've heard rumours that they are redsigning the ali hardwear the straps run through, and that this may be the reason for the delays. But i'm not sure if its rumour or true. I do know that the leg loops are wearing a bit to fast on some harnesses, two colleague I work with have heavily worn straps after 6 months use, both have been told that they can have this repaired for free.
  6. On occasion i'll drink offered insipid brew by client out of politeness, but prefer my own. I only choose the finest beans and have them ground to perfection. I'm a professional and only the best will do. We obviously need a brew thread, to educate on how to make a perfect work brew.
  7. Tony Tony, I have'nt even bothered to look at the link, i'm well aware of jetbroils coffee press. I use Smart Cafe mugs at work if I want a long coffee, and a small Trangia kettle, I can boil as quickly as a jet boil, its more compact and easier to clean. http://www.smartcafe.co.uk/products/hot_cafetiere_mugs.asp
  8. The definition of a weed is a plant growing in the wrong place. Other than that there is no such thing as a weed. Sure dandelions are a pain for gardeners because they seed and spread so easily into borders and lawns but they are not weeds, and the same can be said for Ash, Sycamore amd such like. Basically they are only valued if they are growing in the right place and appreciated, if not they are a weed.
  9. Jet boils are for lazy boyz, and to bulky. I'm an expert climber so only drink proper coffee, only a coffee press or better still stove top espresso maker will do.
  10. To true, I found that once you trap a testicle once you either learn to avoid it or end up disliking the harness. I think the new revised Dragonfly is worth a punt, with adjustable center of balance, new rope style bridge and redesigned backpad which is designed to sit much lower like the Treeflex and motion harnesses. The Butterfly 2 also has the new back pad, bridge and adjustability.
  11. I'd come to this job if your in need of someone to make sarcastic comments on how your doing it wrong (when I obviously could'nt do it better myself).
  12. You obviously shoved the cork in to tight, and there's me thinking you were a decent arborist a rookie error.
  13. My estimation of you as a proper tree man has gone up. I'm not good enough for a kelly kettle yet, I just have a gas burner and italian espresso maker.

    Gaffs?

With all the Ivy clad trees i'd having to take down latly longer gaffs are looking more and more attractive. Short normal gaffs on my Gecko's most times though.
  15. They do sell them over here, but only as back handled versions for domestic use or carving. Its not considered a pro level saw, although i'd like one just for pruning. If you bought a tophandled version you should still get good parts support from Stihl Uk. Not sure about the top handle parts though.

    AA

I got one of those the other day, from some company called Bartletts.
  17. Leccy tape is o.k as long as the whipping is good when you put it on, its unlikly to worsen with its protection. Plus tape is easy to remove so you can inspect it often and very easy to replace/find.

    Knives.

From the first link in the first post "Forget its wicked-quick blade access, that it handles like a race car on rails" How can a knife handle like a race car on rails :? its a knive!
  19. Stuffed mushrooms and home made chips, so i've just been told. So so hungry
  20. Sorry I put to many 0's I actually meant 750 - 1000 pounds Judging by the combi can and that wall being approx 4ft high that chesnut looks fairly chunky and needs climbing, then there is the lime which is down already so should'nt be to hard. The fact you need to log it and leave it there would not affect my price much, i'd maybe charge more if they want it firewood size.
  21. 1,000,000 pounds
  22. Fair comment, so was I in a way there are so many variables that I just went into one. What I don't like about the look of the petzl bridge is the way the harness attaches to the bridge rings, it looks like the top one will articulate with you, but the bottom one is fixed to the leg loops. Where as on a treemagic or motion, the bridge attahment point slides with you on the legs as well as your anchor sliding on the bridge. All I was thinking is although the bridge does not look right, if everything else moved with it then it could still be a nice bridge, untill I try one I will not know.
  23. So the only factor in a good bridge is wide and flat? How about the type of bridge, rope, thin tape, wide tape? Anyone climed in one of those GQ parachute merrist wood harness, the bridge was wide and flat but the bridge itself was 4" wide so sliding from left to right was kinda restrictive because of friction. I like thin rope/tape bridges as they require less twisting effort to position yourself, something that I liked with the dragonfly, the wider tape I don't like so much on my treemagic. All i'm saying is don't write the Petzl bridge off till you try it, but admit it does'nt look good.
  24. I need to protect the whipping as it will be coming into contact with bark, i'll have to find my stash of shrink wrap. Nod at treeworker spliced the ring into the yale xtc for me.
  25. Its more than a capstan on steriods, you can crane bits out of trees with it, pull over heavy leaning trees, as well as being a versatile lowering system.
