    knots

I feel the VT is a bit unreliable from time to time particularly if you are new in the game. For sure it isn’t the first knot I would recommend any one to start with. My favorite is a knot with many names “Martin”, “Michoacán” and even “The Eyetie Hitch”. It’s similar to the Knut and the man who introduced it was even thought he was climbing on the Knut. I use it with an Ice Tail Blue and 5 wraps. You have to try out by yourself how many you prefer. The picture shown 4.
  2. To me it sounds like "Phytophthora" Sorry my English is not so good so i could explain. But i'm sure some one else can.
  3. The picture is a bit small. But i hope you can figure it out anyway.
  4. I’m probably a bit ingenuous but I thought that at least most of the members were tree workers with the emphasis on arborist and the climbing just was a tool to do a good job?

    help!

If two guys are in three you gonna get two different sides of the tree. Even when there is two experience d tree worker who does the reduction you’ll see it. And you can’t say that one has done a better or worst job than the other, there still would be two sides of the tree. They just think different. Even though. The insistence to make a 50% reduction would make me remain on the ground. But the main thing is: if it doesn’t feels good, you don’t do it.
  6. I climb with XTC-fire rope and got the idea to try the new Ocean when that was available in Sweden. I climb with a Michoacán knot or Martin I think it also calls. However the Ocean was a little too stiff for my knot so I tried the VT and it worked great. Unfortunately I bought my Ocean short with stitched eyes so I couldn’t do the VT with so many wraps I would like but I could see the good potential for it.

    New Boots?

I’m about to buy some new chainsaw boots and I know this has been open before but the thread is so long I can’t figure out which one is the best. I choose between Aquafell Xpert and Haix Trekker Mountain. As they can’t be bought in Sweden I’ve contacted a firm called “Abbey Pro” in UK. Unfortunately they aren’t as advisory as they proclaim at the web site. (After tree mail I’ve sent, I still wait for the recommendation answer) Therefore I now turn to you in hope for some advice. Which of the two above-named boots, do you recommend for ordinary tree climbing, not for spiking. For that I already have some Klima Air boot but there isn’t as flexible as I want. I want the most lithe and smoothest boot for climbing. Thanks in advance. Micke

    Gaffs?

Hi. I use Gecko climbing spurs which I find comfortable. Now I wonder if someone, please, could tell me the different between the “American” and the “Heidelberg” also called “European” gaffs. Not the appearance, that I know, but which one you prefer in which tree and so on. Thanks in advance Micke
