  1. Lack of prep is usually what causes peeling, I blast clean first, but you don't want to do that to your zintec as it will take the coating off. I haven't used zintec myself, but a good steam clean, wire brush, then clean with white spirit should get it ready. If its a smallish area get an aerosol of acid etch primer, and finish with an enamel gloss. (Or Dulux, it will look just as good) You can get aerosols of primer for about a fiver off ebay.
  2. I use single pack acid etch primer on bare steel or ally, that is solvent based. Avoid all 2 pack paints unless you know what you are doing and have air fed mask etc, they can make you very ill very quickly. Unless you have a decent compressed air spray setup already, I wouldnt bother spraying. The main advantage of spraying is speed, you will get just as good a finish with a roller, it will just take a bit longer. As Treequip says, the key is in the prep.
  3. Dulux black gloss and a foam roller. Steam clean with traffic film remover if possible first.
  4. Unfinished project. Well, technically unstarted project.
  5. I would buy a new harness, but the only one I'd buy is a TM, and there is nothing wrong with the one I'v got.
  6. My TM, (which I bought from you incidentally) is 5 years old and still going strong!
  7. Yup, by far the best imo, bought mine new in November.
  8. Hey Rob, you do realise that a thread in the greenmech forum can only be replied to by greenmech or yourself?!

  9. Is that before or after?
  10. Some harnesses have a longer life span recommended by manufacturer. EKN Kolibri for instance, 7 or 8 years as I recall.
  11. Is ivy not poisonous to livestock?
  12. Hydrostatic also uses hydraulic fluid to power and brake the wheels, so no engine power = dead stop very quickly. Articulated steer dumpers on the other hand have direct driven wheels but hydraulic steer, and they can be road registered.
  13. Diesel engine, hydrostatic drive and steering.
  14. I use 8mm ap on velocity.
  15. I think mine has done 16 hours so far. Acorn have had QCs since they first came out, theirs must have some serious hours/ abuse.
  16. Well done everyone who competed, I am far too fat and lazy to climb in the rain so I opted out!
  17. Not used one, but its only 26hp with a feed opening of 6.3"x7.9". The GM has about the same size infeed and the turntable, but 34hp and still under 750kg.
  18. My local dealer sorted me out a really good finance deal on my quadchip, it costs me the same a month as hiring a TW150 for 3 days.
  19. Definately go see a doctor if you havent already, last op i had was keyhole day surgery, in and out in 4 hours, back to work 4 days later. (Supposed to be off for 2 weeks but I got bored!)
  20. I have had 2 ops on my right knee for torn cartilage, one 16 years ago to stitch in back together, and one 2 years ago to shave off a small tear. Hasnt stopped me climbing, footlocking, or anything else really, and the only time I have properly locked the knee up and been in agony in the tree was during my CS38 assessment while lowering a casualty. Managed to finish the rescue and pass the assessment. Wearing a knee support wont help you in the long run imo, better off doing some exercises to strengthen and stabilise the knee. Do some reading up online or go see a physio, or both. Good luck.
  21. Some pics of a Hilux Extra Cab unit.
  22. I found it a very steep learning curve going from transits to 18 tonne lorry, but it did all come together in the end. Stick with it.
  23. Iv always wondered that, also why does the 27 minute wash cycle take 35 minutes?
  24. Less than that I would say, not too sure what I paid for mine, and they have gone up a little since then, but the list when I bought was about £14k I think.
