  1. Saw a harvester just the other day on hardwood thinnings. Sorry cant help you more than that, maybe pm Woodworm on here as he operates a harvester.
  2. Just for the record, I did look at that post and considered deletion of it, but took it in the spirit (I Hope!) intended. I wouldnt normally delete a word like "cock" unless it was meant in a malicious way, it does some up the characters concerned quite well
  3. Dont beat around the bush, just say what you mean
  4. Apparently there is an article in Forestry Journal this month, anyone read it or make head or tail out of it? I dont subscribe to it so havent seen it myself.
  5. Big thanks to everyone who either organised, donated prizes or took part in the raffle. Top stuff:thumbup:
  6. I'm keeping an eye on the chatroom, some seem to be having difficulty staying logged in there
  7. WF tracWerner Forst- und Industrietechnik
  8. Quite right too, I'd love to see their reasons:biggrin:
  9. Like several others, I've seen your posts advertising for staff out there, and thought what a golden opportunity. shame these 2 lads blew it, for whatever reason. Lets hope they at least have the decency now to make some sort of amends by pm'ing you and apologising for their behaviour, thus showing their balls have finally dropped. Naming and shaming will solve nothing, nor rectify anything, whats done is done, but this does destroy one faith in others.
  10. OOOOh some issues here?
  11. We mustn't forget that many of the current hikes were in fact a legacy of the last government, ie fuel duty increases, the VAT increase is a necessary bitter pill to swallow. If we dont have the Vat increase, what other cuts in public spending would you prefer, pay for medical treatment perhaps?
  12. CTS I didnt say I was impressed with the Vat reduction, knowing it would just go straight back up again.
  13. I do not remember anyone griping about how awkward it was, or moaning about the unfairness of itall when VAT was reduced, I can remember many saying how it would hurt when the reduction was reversed and increased to rectify the blunder. As a country, we can not afford to keep printing our way out of trouble, we need positive methods to sort these issues, many of these methods will hurt our pockets, but I do think we will benefit in the end......... hopefully
  14. No. This thread is an example of Treedoktors work, as Mike has explained. There are many tongue in cheek comments posted on here between friends who know Mike and Mike knows, thats fine. If I were to do a demo vid for clients to see, I'd like to think it was done as professionally as this one.
  15. You just tempted fate you know:001_smile: doesnt exactly help the OP though
  16. Agreed Dave, in my example it was the way to go, but of course all jobs vary. Good luck with yours:thumbup1:
  17. Try Treeworker.co.uk or FR Jones both have side banner ads on here. If your budget is a bit too tight for those, look at army surplus bags. PS Also Honey Bros. PPS Also any of the other advertisers of arb products on this forum
  18. Dave Fox, I had a similar size orchard to clear last year. I found the quickest, most cost effective way was to strip the branches and throw them into windrows as I went, leaving the main trunk standing. Then clear the branches with a loader to fire. Then fell butts and chuck them straight on a following trailer as you go. Get in a sawbench to log them later. I then had a D9 with a rootplough.come in to clear the roots. It took me 3 days in total. Messing about logging as you go is unproductive and tiring.
  19. Well, it was raining one day on the way to work, so me and Steve got talking about how there wasnt a forum out there for us, so he made one
  20. Seems many of you fellas are suffering from premature congratulations
  21. Top stuff there, Liked:thumbup:
  22. First off, I think that its admirable that a student comes out of college with high standards. Thats praiseworthy. The difficult part now is to find a job with a company that will meet his expectations and standards. And as said the clients who will listen and pay for those standards. I've seen several lads come from college with this idealogical mindset, only for them to become disillusioned with the "real world" and go off into some other trade. The other alternative is to set yourself up in business and go for it, work to your own standards, and accept nothing less in others who work for you, and fingers crossed that it works out for you.
  23. Woodland "workshops" for traditional crafts?
  24. Come on Penfold, even you dont believe that:biggrin:
