  5. Ditto what others have said, just put a new bar on the 026, you have good back up saw so a no-brainer to me
  6. Lorry & Forwarder working together
  7. Some gratuitous machinery pics from the woods today, oh and some wood:biggrin:
  8. When I sold on one of my air of 090's, I let go the AV model, and as F/Ace says, the vibes arent as bad as you think
  9. Well spotted David In a way its a relief it came over, far easier to deal with now
  10. Largiesh Lime tree fail on Friday evening. I got the call while I was the wrong end of the county that the tree was leaning badly and that the root plate was lifting, so I rang the Police and asked them to close the little lane asap. About 10minutes after they'd closed the road over she went. With a diameter of about 3feet and overall height around 120feet the potential to cause serious pain was high. I had condemned this tree due to the large vertical split running up about 15feet from the rootplate to the 1st fork, and had scheduled the t/d for half term week due to the road being a "rat-run" for school traffic. The siccie in front was totally stripped to a pole by the fork of the lime running either side on its way down, so this will now be felled as well.
  11. Had a call earlier, 120ft Lime was looking precarious, root heave, vertical fracture to about 15ft. So I called the police and had them close the road off (little back lane to nowhere). Got a call about an hour later to say the tree has gone down without incident, so guess what I'm up to tomorrow?
  12. I had a lad come along for a day last year, he travelled about 20miles on the understanding that the day was free. I was so impressed with his attitude that I paid him for that day, and booked him for another day (with pay). I like to be fair to people, treat them as I'd lke to be treated, but I do see the future meaning that unpaid trial days will become the norm in many places. Its so difficult to find someone who is keen, willing and able in this job, there has to be a way of separating the wheat from the chaff.
  13. I was watching a programme last night on internships, where people seeking employment in professional jobs work for 3 months without pay. They may do 4 internships in their quest for employment. In this time they do not get paid for transport to and from work, they work long hours doing the most menial of tasks, despite the fact that they have very high qualifications, and no guarantee of even getting the job at the end of it all. Although personally i would not expect a person to do a days free work as a trial, I do think that its going to become more the norm if you wish to try and get a job as the jobs market becomes ever more swamped. Felix, I understand that if someone is working for you, whether voluntary, part-time, or full-time, the EL is there to cover that.
  14. I've had a Good Day, I'm happy and the world is just a beautiful place to live. So I think a Guinness is in order
  15. Post duly removed, normal service now resumed.
  16. I'm 46, not 6, so no , and lunchtimes are for either eating or sleeping, or both.
  17. Hi will, how you doing?
  18. And today, the harvester hard at it, and down in the Icepits. Apparently, the Icepits were a communal Icepit, used before the days of refridgeration.
  19. When I had stuff stolen, the police told me they automatically pull any vehicle with trailer where the plates dont match. Hopefully in this case its perfectly innocent. The trailers plates should match the vehicle, not just one of your fleet!
  20. Up before the lark, harvester hard at it, and not a bead of sweat in sight
  21. :adore:
  22. Reading the forum rules may be a good start for some, and thinking before posting, instead of the first thing that flashes through their minds. Bearing in mind that this is an open forum where anybody can read your thoughts, maybe your employer, maybe your clients, maybe someone your going to bump into at the next trade fair. Its a very small world these days, esp in our trade, and many of us know many others, word soon gets around about who is who.
  23. Did you see this in the flesh at the APF? Yes, you could probably make one a lot cheaper as a one off. BUT this has been well-thought out, and well-made. I seem to remember that the wheels alone are abut 40 quid apiece, then there are production costs, patents to apply for, marketing and so on. I'm sure someone from Fletchers could give you a more thorough breakdown of the costings if they felt it necessary. The way I would see it is how much time and labour will it save me over say a year? Would it save me employing another bod on a job, and will it save unnecessary wear and tear on our bodies. Suddenly it doesnt seem so expensive.
  24. The harvester is Nick Searles, now the big stuff is on the deck I shant be back til the end of the week, 90m risk zone with that machine. Not much time for pictures, been too hectic felling to get away before the machine gets in range!
  25. Yeah okay, but not that nice
