  1. That 3rd pic would look good in some sort of design for a leading Arb website
  2. What a criminally smooth operation, they must have practised that a few times.
  3. There is a good article in this months (February 2011) Forestry Journal on this topic.
  4. Announced this morning that the Forestry sell-off is off, due mainly to public pressure.
  5. Perhaps he follows Arbtalk and seen the crazy new fad for fracture pruning
  6. Not bad here in Silly Suffolk, chasing my tail around here at the mo
  7. Big 4foot screw ex-mil ground anchors are the kiddies, maybe use 2 and spread the load. Check there are no undergraound services 1st!!
  8. I've now stickied this thread, hopefully it will stay in everyones minds
  9. Looking forward to seeing a vid of yours running, a fine achievement
  10. Typical, wrong end of the country!
  11. Billionaire Ka-Shing, what an appropriate name
  12. Well it does have further to travel Actually, I think I'd rather the Chinese owned it than those Frenchies
  13. Does this mean we cant buy electricity now, now owned by a Chinese company? I wonder if they fake that too?
  14. Pigeon & Pistachio terrine
  15. I "converted" a Motorcycle 2-way system a couple of years ago. The headset side of things was fine, the radio was fine, but the wires were just far too bulky and restrictive for practical use, luckily the radios themselves are good and clear enough to use without the headsets.
  16. Ditto Rich's comments, and I think I speak for all the Admin staff that we will remove any comments we feel unsuitable here.
  17. Well, should be able to go and have a look at the pup at the weekend, its only 8weeks at the moment. One more question, jabs, he wont get his til 12 and 14weeks, so shouldnt mix with other dogs. So will I have to wait until he's had them before he can meet mine?
  18. Thinking of a dog, one set of hormones in the house is more then enough , but there is only one dog pup in the litter, so not sure.
  19. Tommer, thats the exact thoughts I had. Years ago we had several dogs, and a new pup would be put in its place by the older dogs just as you say. Our current dog has been the only dog here all his life, so my concern is that he'll rule the roost, though he'll probably just teach it to guard the gate, chase helicopters and dig worms out of the garden. Yes Steve, I have a litter to choose from if I wish.
  20. I'd like to buy a Patterdale x Jack pup, but I have one grumpy, anti-social 10year old Lab dog. Can anyone suggest a way of introducing a pup in such circumstances? I realise he'd have to adjust, and the pup would be lower in the pack order, but my gut feeling is that the Lab would choke on the small bones.
  21. Do you know how many of those "mugs" look at this forum? My job today came directly because they lurk at Arbtalk, see how things are done, click on my weblink and gave me the work. Joking or not, we are supposed to be professional, whether on site or on here, so its worth bearing in mind to think before you post.
  22. pair of Horse Chestnuts post-30ish% reduction, well the L/H side was reduced to that spec, and the R/h one was reduced to match. No before pics, but the L/H tree was originally taller than the other. Was a bit hard to concentrate today, due to the local bell-ringers deciding that a full peal lasting 3hrs was a good idea, ALL BLOOMIN MORNING!!!!
  23. Just to say, I think you've adhered to the forum rules well, people do need to be made aware of the risks of buying machinery, and tempting though it is to "name & shame" you've tactfully avoided that avenue. Well done for getting most of your money back, distance selling regs do protect the consumer quite well. Good luck for the future
  24. I think that the best people I know in this trade all did some form of on the job training. The college-route people I know, on the whole, have an ideallistic approach to the job, misconceptions as to their true worth, a poor attitude to how much work is expected from them etc. I'd rather see trainees doing day release, 3 days a week on site, 2 days a week doing college work. And by college work, I mean studying the subject they are there for, not going off on mountain bike trips, kayaking, and other "team building" or "life experience" jaunts that take up much of a 2-year course. There is no substitute for working with a mentor, but if this is tied in with a course it has to be the best of both worlds.
  25. Super-Gran could take em all
