  1. No pics, not a lot of point really, ended up splitting with a maul for rest of the afternoon
  2. Today, I was going to post pics of a big Cat powered tracked mulcher at work, but it broke down Then I was going to post pics of a prototype flail in action, but the Police turned up following complaints from local residents THEN I was going to put up pics of me working on the splitter in glorious sunshine, but the seal in the top of the ram blew and I got a facefull of Hydrauic oil, so i came home. Some days you should just stay indoors and play soothing music.
  3. "frolic" sounds a little er...... camp!
  4. Its the moist bit in a ladies garden.
  5. At least he had the common decency to hide behind the limb:biggrin:
  6. Nice steady swing, not to much force, release the string just as your hand is pointing just above your target. Give yourself time, if you miss just be patient, make minor adjustments in your position/stance, and it'll go..........eventually.
  7. If you havent had a raise in 3 years, ask (politely) if its possible to have one now? Point out what you feel are your positive points (sell yourself!) Bear in mind these are tough times for all, bosses included, and a guaranteed 60 is better than a maybe 100, good luck!
  8. Tim Dead wooding an Oak, and reducing the limbs out over the paddock.
  9. I offered Will a day or so helping out on site. He was punctual, polite, attentive and applied himself on each occasion, and importantly worked as part of a team, even though at that time he had very little experience. If I have any work and need a hand I'll be in touch. Good luck Will
  10. David Downie, lost his card at the minute, but he's well known in the mid-Suffolk area Aha googled him and here it is http://www.hurdlemaker.co.uk/
  11. My offer to pass it on to someone FOC to someone else still stands.
  12. Might see you there then
  13. Leaving early enough aint you?
  14. Here's some tips on tomahawk throwing [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLT4tSLU9G0]YouTube - hand axe throwing pt 1: basics pt1[/ame]
  15. Nice to see Arbtalk.com are attending, whoever they are:001_rolleyes:
  16. You need both hands for the double-bit, doubt you'll be steady enough without the Zimmer
  17. Cheers Liam, I popped up Sunday hoping to see you about this very subject
  18. You and I both know which takes the most skill, but if thats another challenge, best you hone your skills Mr B:thumbup1:
  19. Challenge accepted, Steve may as well run it, cos he's crap:biggrin:
  20. Hand-cut tater chips at 4m with a tomahawk and a bit of practise:001_smile: Love this sport, just need a full-size target and backdrop to practise the double-bit
  21. It was only the beginnings of a plan Mick, logistically we would need the following: a large dia piece of wood for the target and a stand, straw bales for the backdrop, safety netting to keep the mob at bay, Justin to see this thread and agree, and I'm sure there is more to think of. It just seems to make sense to us to do something different as a fund-raiser, which doesnt involve the usual collection of prizes from various people for a change. All offers of assistance would be good, even in a small way, we aint snobs ya knows!
  22. I wonder if Justin would become a dealer for Gransfors
  23. TBh Steve and I discussed this very topic on the way back from the frozen wastelands at the other end of the A1, so I'll not take all the credit for this.
  24. Better still, I wonder if Granfors would sponsor it with an axe prize in aid of the Childrens Trust? Competition to Granfors rules, double-bit and tomahawk comps. Axethrowing Now do we know a site owner who may just have the clout to approach Granfors? Oh and we'd need a large ring of wood just over 3feet dia for the target to be on.
  25. Great minds think alike Mick
