  1. I bet it's a north-wales special. Dodgy bunch of blokes, led by a fat guy, driving landrovers & running amock
  2. The wikapedia definition of arborist is very broad in spectrum and inclusive of many things we include under the title "tree surgeon" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arborist I may be by definition an arborist, however I do not define myself or others within the arb or related industry by limiting titles. Why would I percieve that another worker is of lesser standard due to the monicer or title that they bestow upon themselves or others upon them?
  3. your not certified to prune or dimantle by rigging ...................................................................................................................... ! that's an opinion through reading the AFAG guidane and NPTC assesment notes
  4. 0 to 1% actual faliures. I think it has a high potential to fail though which would be what i based my decion upon
  5. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pruning Read some more from other sources too. The better educated you can become, the better your decision making and pruning will be

    Fun

Serious timber going down, looks amazing fun:001_cool: [ame] [/ame]
  7. £1300 - chip as much as is possible, possibly even slab some timber to chip. would save an immense amount of time
  8. No idea- the longer I worked on the tree the smaller it got. Comparing it to your tree it appears to be over 300ft:001_tongue:
  9. Some pics from monday working with Big Ammer. Staring Nigel (not pictured thankfully) and groundscum Chris and Dave ( left and right). Reduced to 7m as per spec.
  10. Speed and power are different things. my 440 will outcut my 660 on a 2ft log, but the 440 will not pull a 3ft bar. Sorry not an answer but trying to establish the context
  11. 660 with a 30in, or a 460 with a 25. 880 is only for huge trees in my books. I seldom have come across a tree that needs one
  12. that's far enough. Thanks for keeping us informed Hollands
  13. cool- just think, if you had got your lazy ass out of bed at a decent hour you could have had an early finish:001_tongue:
  14. Great use of your kit Dave. How long did it take?
  15. Enjoy those bed baths from the pretty nurses dude :)

  16. Love mine on the tree motion. Less tangles and twist makes for easier climbing
  17. Start a thread in the employment section. I'm sure you will have offers
  18. That's ruined my friday. My thoughts are with him and I hope he recovers quick and well.
  19. Ha, you wish. Butchers are skilled individuals
  20. Nice tidy job, looks smart. What's the front axle weight like? Easy to overload with such a long wheelbase I bet.
  21. Materblaster's alternate identity
  22. Paperwork, insurance, qualifications and time all cost. Time spent varies, dependant on condition of kit, amount and supporting paperwork. You sound like the customer who throws the toys out of the pram when you give your quote, stating that your just a man with a saw!
  23. try find one using this? http://www.windsorforestry.com/commonpgm/SelGuide_SelctMfg.asp?UserType=PRO&BusId=WNDSR&SellReg=USA&LangId=ENG&ShowRem=N&ShowAnsi=N&ShowSprocket=N&HdgSellreg=USA&HdgLangId=ENG&ShowQuality=N&ShowCombo=N
  24. Have you compared the bar configuration in comparison to other makes? I'm sure they would use off the peg ones as bespoke would be expensive to produce.
  25. place these words in a random order - "probably more reliable and powerfull than a husky" After that sorry i can't be of any help
