  1. My family biz is the restoration and refurbishment of houses, so I watch the house prices carefully. I imagine a small drop if things stay as they are, but if the interest rates go up, the repo's will start and a crash will come. If so i will just buy another couple of houses!
  2. on a stem I love my ropeguide when doing ivy covered removals I can move down to my next point and clear it without having to spike through the crappy stuff
  3. It's ok being critical looking at pics on the net, i did not see the tree. I usually make a point of clearing the ivy around me. But part of that is my paranoia of cutting my ropes when they are unseen
  4. I blame all for the rope tangle, the climber for not placing his lines away from the rigging rope. Everyone else for not checking it for him. Do you not think that cleaning more of the ivy off would have helped see the situation a little better? Plenty to learn from this for all of us
  5. Not a great predicament for the climber to be in. How was it resolved?
  6. Here you go tockmal; http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/4640747.stm and http://wwww.forestry.gov.uk/newsrele.nsf/WebPressReleases/3EEE4838BED1F155802570D8003965E9 Conflicting views but all are giants in my books
  7. Well finished the weeks connifer hell. Got a real trees to do tomorrow and all I can say is I'm excited:thrasher: How sad is that lol
  8. BUMP! Any progress yet Steve?
  9. it's done some miles already Butch, I should retire it so it's still presentable for my next holiday in January. Has anyone taken one to Patagonia yet?
  10. Who said I love hedge work?
  11. If the piece is not being locked off, and of suitable size, i do not consider this much of an issue. However when mis aligned the rotational effect does often worry me.
  12. Glad you decided to grace us with your presence bob!
  13. I missed that. Great article Colin. Nice to have such a vocal advocate!
  14. When a variagated species starts to revert to normal pigmented growth, it is usually a sign of stress. The lighter shades of green in the leaves usually photosynthesise at a lower efficiency, hence the reversion is a method of increasing productivity
  15. The gunmakers want the rootball of the tree. Furniture grade timber is usually in demand by the timber merchants
  16. I use a small keyring type krab as you can see in my pics. How are you finding having the prussic so short/close? i left it long enough to maintain a bit of space between the different sides of the rope
  17. well another weekend successfully tamed. Party was cool, and only burnt the rice! now my hangover has gone i suppose i'd better get my crap together before work tomorrow:smokin:
  18. What is the fault developing? is it a carb issue as 200t's have had issues with these recently
  19. Buy Snapon or teng if you are not willing to pay top money. http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/catalog1.asp?tool=all&Cat_ID=118847&Cat_NAME=Screwdrivers&store=uk http://www.teng.co.uk/level1.asp?cat_id=1

  21. Nice pics steve. Another day at the office You find the rope guide easier to retrive with is set so loose?
  22. It's been a while since i sold timber, so my memory is a little vauge. If there is enough to put a parcel together, then that was where we got our best prices. I'm sure there are online sites for auctioning them.
  23. going boldering tomorrow, then cooking thai curry for 10 at mine, I detect a party
