  1. i had to get up this morning at 4:30 to do a gatwick run or it would have been fixed sooner
  2. Sorry guys, been having difficulties fixing what turned out to be a very minor issue...everything should be back to normal now!
  3. well aside from the safety issues, its the practicality of not having a line up there. what if your saw breaks down for example? you have to spike all the way down to get another one rather than just lowering it down
  4. well done jo, top stuff mate
  5. Trojan, you only need to search through rich's past posts in the picture forum to see the quality of his work:001_cool:
  6. can you give any specifics on the nature of the work, ie rail, highways, electric?
  7. i had a sample pallet of briquettes sent over from ireland a couple years ago....they were ok, but very expensive, and a complete nightmare if they got a slight bit of moisture on them. I think its going to be a few years still till anyone other than supermarkets and garages will be able to get away with selling them.
  8. i have the 1x37, pretty happy with it overall
  9. £140+vat, havent put my price up yet this year purely because so much of the wood is chestnut, i'd like to be nearer £160 really. will probably go to £150 shortly. im doing mixed loads for £130 and getting plenty of takers.
  10. well it doesnt owe me anything so i wouldnt be in the greatest of hurry to sell it to be honest!
  11. oooooh haha £4600 and shes yours!
  12. 3m3 loads i guess last year i must have done about 250ton. this year i have maybe 150t in hand but about 80t of that is chestnut and about 40ton softwood!
  13. nah £80 isnt really the end of the world....but its just something else to consider. 8 months of the year im paying that and its not really earning me anything
  14. nah.....in fairness i do have other things that i could expand on if only i had the time. thats another problem with firewood....too time consuming for little return
  15. i dont get enough waste to make it viable...i have to buy in. at the moment i pay £80 per month for my yard, which to be honest, if i didnt sell firewood i would no longer need.....plus my processor which i could sell now for what i paid for it 5 years ago. I'd also no longer need my ldv as a small van such as a mercedes vito would be great for contract climbing and could be kitted out inside very nicely indeed. its a very tempting proposition.
  16. im strongly considering getting out of firewood...ive been saying that for the past couple of years now, but looking at the figures this year i just dont see its feasable without putting my prices up a lot higher than id be happy about. is anyone else in a similar situation? i heard of one haulier selling cord at £60 a ton not far from me....not even worth considering buying at that money!!
  17. i didnt realize you had email, after all, you never responded to any of mine
  18. i'd say no....looks like theres some decay at the union.
  19. i would imagine any of the site sponsors who deal with fletchers would have them...ie. all of them pretty much!!!
  20. theres a bit of that, but possibly also the whole landscaping business is just too broad to cover in one forum.
  21. there will always be a certain amount of cross over between the 2
  22. same can be said for tree surgeons carrying out crappy landscaping though matty! ive seen plenty of that too....but i agree with the sentiment, stick to what you know
