  5. The reality of it is it’s probably not on you Joe. If the has got involved you would be treated like an employee and the boss would take the brunt. Only possible way round this may be with a risk assessment stating why you weren’t wearing ppe. Even then im Not sure it would hold. for the record I agree with you regarding wearing chainsaw trousers in the heat, and am also guilty of wearing ‘stealth chainsaw trousers’ in the past
  6. Exactly the same happened to me
  7. Agree with alll that. The climber knows full well of the damage could have been avoided, in which case they should pay the same for their carelessness. I have in the past had discussions with people I was climbing for prior to work to clarify that I would not be responsible for any damage. Typically when working over something like an asbestos roof that the smallest rogue peg could end up damaging
  8. You can do that with a vt if tied right
  9. Think you’ll be hard pushed to find a freelancer in the uk who had any sort of a contract in place with anyone they work for. Comes down to decency at the end of the day. If either party are disgruntled and an agreement isn’t reached then they simply won’t work together again
  10. This has happened to me a couple times and it’s absolutely the employer that I’ve made pay. Weather or not they choose to then deduct it from their employer is down to them, although i wouldn’t imagine they can legally.

  12. Reminded me of that dating show first dates, where they ask each other how they are 7 or 8 times.
  13. I’d nearly always use some sort of pulley or ring for rigging regardless of the size of tree, if nothing else to preserve the life of my rigging line. sure if there’s was just a couple of random limbs to rig I probably wouldn’t bother
  14. Before I stopped climbing my positioner broke and I reverted back to a 3-1 vt for my lanyard. Still preferred the zigzag for my main line though.
  15. Thanks. Forgot to auto link vt 😁
  16. Just in case...I finally got round to redeveloping a favourite old feature. https://arbtalk.co.uk/arborist-knots/
  17. Used to secure a dead eye sling to a standing stem.
  18. Used to form a loop used for making Prusiks and other friction hitches.
  19. A great knot for quickly tying a secure and dependable knot mid-line.
  20. I know I nearly exploded a phone battery once and had to run out of the house with it very nearly burning myself. It was like white phosphorous going off or something, exciting stuff 😃
  21. This happened to a mate of mine. He bit their hand off, thinking they'd made a mistake. Then after the deal was all done he found out what it was going to cost him to replace his Audi. Hes a smart cookie, surprised he fell for that one.
