Are they thuja? If so they will grow from bare wood unlike other conifersβ¦.ij this case though house lower branches look dead so cutting them back will do nothing. Easy to tell, just bend them; they will snap if dead

This week at the UKβs Arb Show, Timberwolf will present the latest member to the pack, the TW 280HB DIESEL wood chipper. Incorporating an industry tested Hyundai 55hp diesel engine, the TW 280HB DIESEL has been designed to include the best in class features associated with the Timberwolf range of chippers plus a number of enhancements. Above all, the latest Timberwolf wood chipper demonstrates the βEasy to Use, Easy to Ownβ design methodology which has supported arborists across the globe for nearly 40 years. βTimberwolf wood chippers are at the heart of so many arboristβs businesses,β said Chris Perry, Timberwolfβs Managing Director. βWe regularly seek feedback from the arborist community and the primary product they wanted to see return in 2025 was an 8β diesel woodchipper. This development project has allowed us to incorporate leading technologies and smart design to deliver a simple yet incredibly powerful wood chipper. From our launch events, I know that our Dealers and Distributors canβt wait to share this machine with their networks.β Timberwolf, simply easy to use, easy to own. EASY TO USE The role of an arborist is naturally a physically demanding one and Timberwolf has always looked to design wood chippers which are simple to use. The TW 280HB DIESELβs optimised infeed design has a feed funnel wide enough to accommodate the wildest and greenest of brash whilst the flat tray makes it easy to position and rest cord wood as it is fed into the chipper. With a lifting top infeed roller, a feature on all Timberwolf machines, the chipper readily accepts flat faced cord wood minimising timber kick and re-adjust time. Based on user feedback, the throttle cable has been removed and replaced with a new electronic throttle system integrated into the highly regarded side buttons in the operator zone. A feature that customers should look out for in future developments. EASY TO OWN Timberwolf wood chippers are renowned for their durability, the TW 280HB DIESEL is no different and owners should expect the same level of easy maintenance with the Dealer network available to support servicing needs. In reinforcing the βEasy to Ownβ approach, the TW 280HB DIESEL is the first of our wood chippers to include new, simple, and accessible diagnostic and operating data to support end users and Dealers alike. The intuitive and robustly tested HMI display screen provides not only clear usage data but also engine and chipper troubleshooting notifications. With an adjustable home screen menu to support user preferences and the DPF regeneration process, the HMI display will also offer a number of language options as a part of the initial launch phase. The control software, IQAN, first incorporated into the TW 280HB HYBRID, has been selected as the leading machine control software for its new 8β diesel counterpart. Once the free app is downloaded to a mobile device, IQAN provides user access to live operating and diagnostic data - not only for the end user but also remotely to approved Timberwolf Dealers when needed. When considering the ease of regular maintenance checks, the TW 280HB DIESEL has zero blade to anvil gap removing the need to spend time shimming to ensure optimal chipping performance. As with all Timberwolf chippers, the chipper is sold with a 3-year Timberwolf warranty as standard with the option to extend to 5 years. BOOK A DEMONSTRATION Timberwolf will launch and demonstrate the TW 280HB DIESEL at the Arb Show (16th and 17th May) at Westonbirt National Arboretum. To find out more and book your machine demonstration, please contact your local Authorised Timberwolf Dealer or visit our website.

Single-sided hedge trimmers offer numerous benefits, including a longer and lighter cutting bar, as well as improved safety. Designed for professional landscapers, the HSA 150 R and HSA 150 T are the first single-sided hedge trimmers in the STIHL AP System, comparable in performance to the popular petrol HS 87. Available in lengths of 75cm or 100cm, the HSA 150 comes equipped with a catcher plate as standard, increasing the speed at which the top of hedges can be cut. Alongside the impressive performance, the HSA 150 also offers high levels of operator comfort. The new hedge trimmer weighs just 4.3 β 4.7 kg (without battery) and is comfortable to hold thanks to the ergonomic handle grips. The wide grip stance, combined with the central centre of gravity, allows the HSA 150 to be pivoted with ease, resulting in minimal strain to the operatorsβ wrists or arms. The HSA 150 is quiet in operation, and thanks to its highly effective anti-vibration system, is suitable for long periods of use too. When cutting hedges with a petrol machine, the fumes can often collect within the hedge, resulting in a poor working environment for the user. Battery-powered machines such as the HSA 150 can eliminate this problem entirely. Featuring 38mm tooth spacing, the HSA 150 R is best suited to annual pruning or hedge reduction work. Its lower maximum RPM of 3,200 also allows thicker branch material to enter the cutters efficiently. Alternatively, the HSA 150 T has a higher maximum RPM and smaller 30mm tooth spacing, making it better suited to ornamental or fine leaf hedges such as taxus, buxus or privet, where a fine finish is required. The HSA 150 benefits from a new gearbox design, consisting of a two-step planetary gear. This results in exceptionally high cutting performance and fast cold start up, as well as improved protection of the internal components thanks to the integrated slip clutch. To help prevent the blades from jamming, the HSA 150 features an innovative anti-blocking system that reverses the motors rotational direction to unblock the blades, minimising product downtime and enhancing the efficiency of the tool. The HSA 150 utilises the same friction optimised, double edged blades that feature on the HS 87 professional petrol models, resulting in long lasting sharpness, a consistently clean cut and ample durability for long cutting seasons. When used with the recommended AP 200 S battery, the HSA 150 R has a maximum working time of 150 minutes, while the HSA 150 Tβs maximum working time is up to 140 minutes. Much has changed since Wayne Pugsley of 5 Shires Tree Surgery ventured into offering arb, woodland and forestry services over 30 years ago, but the one constant has been his choice of woodchipper β and for that, itβs always been GreenMech! More than three decades on, and now onto his seventh machine, the Droitwich-based arborist explains why reliability, familiarity and outstanding service has kept him loyal to the brand. Wayne has been working in green services since the age of 19. Frustrated with handing over the arb enquiries received from his domestic customer base in and around the West Midlands, he undertook the relevant courses and qualifications, purchased his first GreenMech machine, and the rest was history! βI spent Β£800 and got a second-hand unit which truthfully did cause me a bit of grief, but didnβt distract from the fact I actually really liked the machine. I liked that it was manufactured local to me, I appreciated the build quality, user-friendly operation and I quite quickly built a good relationship with a number of people at the factory. And that remains true to this day. Itβs refreshing to find a company who prioritise quality and hold true to family values, which transmits in how they cooperate with their customers.β βMy workload has always determined which model is right at the time of upgrade and, while Iβm not GreenMechβs biggest customer, the service I receive time after time makes me feel like I am.β Wayne emphasises the point with an example of GreenMechβs willingness to find a solution to an ongoing storage issue. βI needed a folding chute to enable me to store the chipper in a container, but the standard folding chute was still too tall. I explained the issue and GreenMech engineered something to suit my requirements and, every time I change my machine, they fit the bespoke chute to my new model.β The chute is now equipped on Wayneβs most recent purchase β a 40hp EVO 165P complete with new SMART FEED remote system β which was delivered by GreenMechβs Neal Hussey in March 2025. βThe EVO is by some distance the best machine theyβve produced. The power, performance and value for money you get is outstanding.β He continues, βI work with a number of sub-contractors who enjoy using the EVO 165P. Meanwhile, I enjoy the peace of mind that the machine is bulletproof and isnβt going to let them down on a job!β βI also have my chippers painted in an all-green livery which GreenMech sort for me without issue.β But, for Wayne, it doesnβt stop thereβ¦ βI also have green on my trailer and a lot of my safety gear is green β I will never use another brand so why not go all in and have everything in keeping?!β For more information on the new, higher horsepower petrol-powered EVO 165P, visit www.greenmech.co.uk

With the new TP Remote Feed, you can now control the feed mechanism on your TP 280 wood chipper directly from your vehicle β quickly, safely, and efficiently. This gives you full control over the chipperβs operation when using mechanical feeding of wood and branches. Optimize Your Workflow TP Remote Feed is designed for users operating a crane, mini loader, or similar machinery to feed the chipper. With the remote control, you can: β’ Activate and control the feed from a distance. β’ Temporarily deactivate the safety bar, so side branches donβt interfere with feeding. β’ Prevent unnecessary stops and improve workflow efficiency. When the system is activated, warning lights at the funnel flash to clearly signal to the surroundings that the chipper is operating in remote-controlled mode. Safety First To use TP Remote Feed correctly and safely, it is important that: β’ The operator is inside a vehicle or cabin. β’ No people are present in the work area. Flexibility and Efficiency in One System TP Remote Feed makes it easy to switch between manual and remote feeding β without compromising safety. This means fewer work interruptions and a more efficient workflow, especially during demanding or repetitive tasks. I agree with Mick. Thatβs a tree for a woodland, lake side etc etc, not a small back garden. youβll inevitably have to cut it back at some point and thereafter it will look hideous. Iβd have it out while it was small and cheap(er) to do so
