  1. Turn up for work in clean clothes and smelling fresh. Deodrant is cheap
  2. Twice I have always been told. the fishermans is a very secure knot, i wouldn't be overly worried about taping them but it does make for a neater set up.
  3. i'd really try and persuade them that small is better. A tree the size they want will cost a fortune both in the cost of the tree and the planting. Maybe money is no obstacle in this case, but a smaller tree will likely get to the height of the larger tree by the time it even establishes itself, if it doesn't die first. Just my opinion.
  4. sheesh that shot up since I looked 5 minutes ago...keep it up guys
  5. Sorry to hear of your accident. Usually all classifieds have to go in arbtrader but will make an exception for you.
  6. I don't currently have an android to test this on, could anyone else tell me if its working on theirs please?
  7. but you get a free pot of blue paint with it
  8. I don't trust the cloud either and don't use it. Everything of mine is backed up in my own possession.
  9. share them. post them here for a start, facebook, anywhere
  10. Thats not entirely fair. A lot has to do with the company you work with after you get the tickets. Its them that will shape you into the arborist you will become.
  11. Careful, please don't be naive enough to think your boss doesn't look at this forum and can't work out who you are from your posts despite your pseudonym
  12. As someone who has been climbing 18 years now I honestly don't see the merit in practising an aerial rescue. I know how to rescue someone, the climb is the hardest part and thats something I do daily anyway. I think its a valuable excercise for inexperience climbers or groundies with aerial rescue tickets however
  13. To be honest it's been a while since I climbed with a hitch and am not familiar with anything that's come out in the past 2 years. Diameter wise I would always use 8mm. It's worth remembering that what one person recommends won't necessarily work for you, every cord acts differently in different ropes and different knots. A basic rule of thumb though, soft cord runs best of harder rope and vice versa. My preference of know was a valdotain with 3 wraps and 2 braids
  14. knots are fine, better IMO. You are limited with the eye to eye slings. The legs need to be just the right length for optimum performance. With a knot you have some room to adjust.
  15. Unless its a seasoned quick climber then highly unlikely, even then still unlikely. I've always said if I hurt myself up a tree that bad I can't get myself down then i'm probably screwed.
  16. You're totally missing the point. No one is suggesting that. What we are saying is the new methods will make good climbers even more efficient.
  17. Absolutely it doesn't, but thats a rubbish excuse not to switch from a prussik as using a more advanced climbing hitch will increase productivity even more still.
  18. Where are all these horror stories people keep mentioning? I know of only 1 incident relating to the zigzag
  19. Read a lot of mixed reviews about the 201 since it came out but this is the first i've noticed people complaining about the spark plugs! Perhaps a faulty batch maybe?
  20. not a fan of using chainsaws for topping the outer growth, loppers make a far neater job IMO
