1. Those telescopic ladders are about as pointless as a bag full of pointless things
2. Thats for the tree alone. Will get a pic if i'm involved with the planting(which is unlikely)
3. Question for the tree health care experts. This week we removed a 4ft diameter copper beech infected with kretzschmaria. The stump has been ground out. The customer wants a sizable copper beech replanted in its place, and when I say sizable I mean £1500 worth. Whats the implications of planting in the exact same position with regards the likelihood of the new tree becoming infected also please?
4. Not often the big saw comes out. 2 days of slicing and dicing and I'm glad to put it away for at least another 6 months fingers crossed
5. If theres a chance my ladders going to get hit i'll rethink my strategy.
6. Not really pointless. Think of all the people who have had it drummed into their head that ladders should never be used for tree work full stop. Nice for them to see other more realistic opinions.
7. Yeovil is 'unique'. I ate at a franky and bennies there a couple years ago. Some young kids were pestering a member of staff for more balloons...she said 'im not giving you more balloons as you're wasting them just for the helium. If you want helium i'll just give you some helium but no more balloons' rightio!!!
8. Many scenarios. A line of spindly trees/hedges being topped at the same height. I'd be more than happy to stick the ladder up, strop round at the top and go to work. Removing a low limb on a tree, ladder up, strop on and get to work. The notion of never ever using a chainsaw from a ladder is ludicrous to me i'm afraid. I will do whatever is the most efficient for whatever job i'm tackling, and will carry it out in a safe manner.
9. Stripped this out yesterday and felled the stick today onto a massive pile of brash and cord. Whole lot has to be sliced and diced. Another full day with the 880 tomorrow. Should have got someone to stand there for scale really, buts about 4ft diameter and quite gnarly in places
10. I use ladders as my main method of access. I also have no qualms about using a chainsaw from a ladder if the situation lends itself. Its like anything else, use your common sense.
11. So do parents with kids in the final year of the school get to pay less than the ones in the first year Jon?
12. I was only raving about my sugi today. Had it 2 years on my 460
13. haha. I posted the same a few weeks ago. Ordered it yet then?
14. oh, just down the road from me then. I doubt theres any difference in distance between hadleigh and stanton for you then anyway!
15. Where are you based then?
16. Yep, same dealer I buy from
17. £15.82 + vat I just paid
18. Yep boring, but im tight. Currently up to 55,000 miles on the same tyres and brakes
19. Yep! Childrens trust's new website is being worked on at the moment and their launch is planned for this friday, so hopefully the raffle will be live by the weekend.
20.
Do you mean general posting/replying or starting a new thread. If its to start a new thread you first need to navigate to the forum category you wish to post in. If on the computer you will see a gold 'new thread' button

21. Political debate is banned on many forums for the very reason that some people feel compelled to share their extreme views which always ends bad, and does forums on the whole no use. I like to allow political debate, it always makes for a good read. matelot, in future kindly take your extreme political views elsewhere, you bring absolutely nothing to the forum and it will be tolerated no longer. Thanks
22. im guessing its a case of wrapping the tail around your foot once then standing up on it whilst holding the end still.
23. I swan around like an old man these days, never in a great rush to get anywhere. I still struggle to get over 30mpg out of my navara
