  1. Knut is better than the distel by all accounts. Vt is the ultimate though IMO but needs a bit more understanding and fine tuning. Getting the hitch cord/rope combo spot on is important not to mention length of rope, wraps etc.
  2. Amazing picture Mario. Can never decide what I like most, the trees or the girls
  3. Very hard to define. A few weeks ago my 8 year old fell at school. She was in tears and I had a call from the school saying they weren't happy to diagnose her problem, basically wanted me to look and make the decision wether she needed to go to a&e or not. As it happens I was able to get hold of my dad who went down and collected her, took her to hospital where after an xray they diagnosed a sprained wrist. So not an emergency by any means, however if I had been unable to get hold of someone then my little girl was sitting at school in tears and needed her dad, that to me would have been an emergency that I would have dropped everything for if needed.
  4. if its anything like the old 201 it will need bedding in. Took my saw quite a few tanks through it to get up to performance, maybe the new ones the same, i dont know
  5. will watch video later when i have time. No problems posting pics today?
  6. absolutely depends on the nature of the emergency. If his girlfriends broken down then i'm afraid thats touch luck for not taking out AA cover, he can find his own way there without it affecting me financially.
  7. Hypothetical ish my backside! . Of course they should carry on if they are able...I mean assuming they were capable of carrying out the work. Take it your guys down tools and went back to the yard? Re emergencies, I've had to leave jobs before now, it's always been with the children involved, and whoever im working for doesn't get a say in the matter in those circumstances. I wouldn't charge them for the time I had been on site though
  8. Some of that stuff is amazing. Haven't seen many that size though
  9. Understand where you're coming from. I too like to support the original maker where possible. I suspect as with anything though, whichever ones cheaper will take the market share
  10. Its not but plenty people out there are using it with one.
  11. Sounds like they have used amicide crystals, didn't know that stuff was still around. I don't think rain will harm it, it will dissolve it if anything. As for the criss cross cuts, that does nothing. As you rightfully said the trunk should be scored around the circumference and the poison applied there
  12. why do people always have to complicate things and look for a way out? Its pretty cut and dry as far as I can see. When you get a new insurance quote one of the questions they ask is 'have you had any accidents or claims on the past 5 years'. its as simple as that
  13. Whats your budget? What sort of size timber are you going to be sourcing?
  14. Yeah they should, you are 100% correct. And the single reason they are not paid this is because companies aren't charging enough for the work. Everyone bemoans customers who are price shopping, but it all comes down to us at the end of the day. Business education is needed for the majority of tree companies. As a freelancer i've worked for quite a few companies over the years. Very few really know how to price work to realistically run a profitable business.
  15. Not cheap are they Heavy Duty Cowhide Leather High Cut Resistance Gauntlet work Glove RIPEUR 2 | eBay
  16. They're the same rope if im not mistaken, just different colour?
  17. Most likely blue tongue, its far more common in the UK. Cougar blue costs a lot more too...not just saying that because you're scottish mind
  18. I expect it will self tend exactly like my old hank of poison ivy I was using today. Ok, but not as good as the Cougar Blue I was using.
  19. Hardly surprising really. I've been in this game near on 20 years now and its pretty common place for workers in general to be pretty scruffy, rough and ready, swearing at the top of their lungs from the tree tops in peoples gardens etc, and then moan that we aren't viewed as professionals?
  20. If they still moan after you spend £150 on jackets for them then nothings going to please them. Great jackets, I have one. Haven't used many others thought to give a comparison.
  21. Well I have gone with blue tongue purely because I was in a hurry, might buy the fly at a later date
