  1. I don't think its fair, sorry to say..but feel your frustration.
  2. You missed out 'makes you looks ridiculous'
  3. In the situation I described earlier I wouldn't have trusted a static redirect
  4. OK, its what i figured it probably was. Its a growing market, good for you for cashing in on it, good luck.
  5. They're only young once Stefan, even if they're not your own. And Mark, that mouth is clearly wasted on you
  6. Nice bit of kit you have there graygit
  7. they look really nice. Scuse my ignorance but what are vaping mods?
  8. not had enough experience with the new husky one. The Stihl one is pretty bomb proof though. Mine is 10 years old now I reckon and the spout is still in good working order and never sticks. I only have the non spill spout on the petrol side. Don't see much point in it for the oil. Quick tip, in the winter when the oil is cold and flowing slowly, unscrew the top a quarter turn or so and it comes out quicker.
  9. Its odd how different people have different experiences. I find that larger saw chains vibrate less than the top handle chains.
  10. 25". ran them on that for the past 11 years now and it pulls it just fine. I did stick an 18" on it once just to see how it performed though.
  11. I do! I might have a go with my cougar blue. I retired it a few weeks ago as I nicked it about 15ft from the spliced end, but it will do for srt on smaller trees I guess.
  12. I would imagine so The 300 metre route follows a serpentine path through the trees and along the contours of the site, providing step-free access into the arboretum's Silk Wood for people of all abilities.
  13. I don't really find pulling myself up a big deal to be honest. and as for rope friction, I don't generally find this a problem. I plan my routes to avoid this. I'm not a massive fan of the redirects as yet, not sure if its a phsycological thing or not. Yesterday I was anchored in high on an Oak tree. The tree itself was a bit iffy, and although the anchor point was plenty thick(about 5"), it was regrowth and below the old pruning point was the typical callous you would expect to see. I dropped on to a branch at about a 60 degree angle from my anchor, tied on a redirect ready to work a couple of branchs after break, and then dropped down from that point for my break. I ascended back up after break and just didn't feel confident in anything. the way the redirect was pulling at my anchor point etc. If I had any doubt that it wouldn't hold me I wouldn't have done it, but it still just didn't feel nice. The bounce in my rope probably made it feel worse, perhaps I should change ropes.
  14. cool, thanks for your help. I'll stick to zing-it then
  15. On another note if I may. My bridge needs replacing. What are people using as an alternative to the replacement part?
  16. Good question. I like that I can twist and turn any way I want without worrying about my ropes crossing. Thats about it at the moment really.
  17. 45 minutes? Did you stop for a tea break or something?
  18. Not 100%. All the cans that were on site that particular day have been checked to make sure mix was added and they all looked ok...but that was a few days after the fact. Remains a mystery, but im not losing sleep over it...its mildly annoying. I've had 6 years use out of that saw, its never missed a beat and has paid for itself several times over. I'm now the proud owner of a 461, and that will be run solely on Aspen from day 1.
  19. It may well be, not something I have any experience with.
  20. I have been contacted by the team organizing the UK Game Fair, being held at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire in July. They need delivery of woodchips for the event. Exact quantity isn't going to be known at this stage but they are talking about having some laid along the river bank and over the walkways etc They are also going to need a lot of straw bales for various purposes and various branches, tree logs/branches as well. Essentially the show will have various areas such as gundogs, airguns, farriery etc so these things will be used for show content, seating, display and boundaries. If any members are able to help please get in touch with Sara do discuss prices etc, thanks Sara Russell 01926 339808 sara at blazepublishing.co.uk UK Game Fair 22 - 24 July 2016 NAEC Stoneleigh Park
  21. SOAR SKY-HIGH AT WESTONBIRT ARBORETUM THANKS TO NEW STIHL TREETOP WALKWAY [xfloat=right]http://www.arbtalk.co.uk/images/stihl1.jpg[/xfloat] An aerial pathway through the leafy canopy of The Forestry Commission's National Arboretum, Westonbirt, will be officially unveiled by Countryfile presenter, Ellie Harrison, on Tuesday 26th April. Sponsored by STIHL, the landmark 'STIHL Treetop Walkway' whisks visitors into and above the arboretum's tree-tops for a breathtaking birds-eye-view of the world-renowned tree collection. The new 13 metre high walkway will transform the woodland experience by promising spectacular views across the arboretum landscape and enabling visitors to discover more about Westonbirt's 15,000 trees from high above the ground. The 300 metre route follows a serpentine path through the trees and along the contours of the site, providing step-free access into the arboretum's Silk Wood for people of all abilities. Robin Lennie, Managing Director at STIHL, says he is thrilled the walkway is officially open. "The opening of the STIHL Treetop Walkway is a significant milestone for STIHL. As a leading outdoor power equipment company with such a rich heritage in tree management, it is important for us to support initiatives that help educate people on our wildlife and reinforce the message that chainsaws help foster the growth of our ecosystems. It will be wonderful to see families and school children step foot on the walkway for the first time and get a whole new perspective of the breathtaking arboretum," says Mr Lennie. The impressive walkway structure is made from Larch and Douglas Fir and includes more than 20 pairs of timber legs, ranging in size from 2.5 metres up to 14 metres tall. The walkway experience will also feature seven interactive hotspots to give visitors of all ages the chance to get up-close with nature and learn more about the fascinating world of trees. Andrew Smith, Director at Westonbirt Arboretum says: "People have been enjoying the views of Westonbirt from the ground for generations, so the time has come to offer our visitors a new and exciting way to see the arboretum by getting up close and personal with the canopy, just like our tree team! This landmark addition transforms the visitor experience with incredible views which have never been seen before. It also provides a family-friendly and fun way for visitors to engage with the world of trees. "The STIHL Treetop Walkway is the start of an exciting new chapter in Westonbirt's history and can be enjoyed as the seasons change throughout the year. We're incredibly proud of it and would like to thank all the Trusts, Foundations, companies and individual donors who have given their time and money to make this project a reality." The new STIHL Treetop Walkway will be open from Wednesday 27th April and access will be included within the admission to the arboretum. 24. Thanks Sean, This would be perfect, thankfully for the most part all our members act professionally as they should. As you rightly said, myself and the moderators are all busy. Myself with tree work, developing the new site, and looking after the kids to boot. I didn't even get to read the thread you mentioned properly until it was reported.
