  6. Good call, just pinged Keely an email. Although I only see PTI listed on their website.
  7. Need to do this reasonably quickly. Anyone offering a course? Located in Suffolk but willing to travel within reason
  8. Apparently its arguable how well a Picus will actually measure Kretzschmaria anyway
  9. That would be more or less where the picus was taken. Cut the toes off for the fell though which is probably throwing you off
  10. Our knowledge on olive trees here in the uk is somewhat limited to non existent
  11. 3rd and 4th rope actually. You can’t expect the rescuer to climb on just one rope, that’s just dangerous? the more you consider the implications of this the more ludicrous it becomes
  12. Lots of reasons to having a client contract. Tree Surgeon Insurance recently put a post on facebook about this.... Claims reminder! In the last 8 weeks, guess what the number one cause of claims has been? Not having a contract! Despite this being frequently suggested, it appears very few Arborists and Foresters get a written contract drawn up between themselves and their customer. Here is an example of a claim that could have been avoided had a contract been in place: A tree was overhanging a very old fence that was almost falling down. The Arborist was concerned that even the slightest touch would cause the fence to collapse. The client apparently said ‘Don’t worry- I can see that and I won’t blame you - I am going to replace it anyway’. Well, surprise surprise, during the course of the works the fence collapsed and….guess what? The client denies the conversation ever took place and wants the contractor to pay for a whole new fence. This could so easily have been avoided had a contract been in place. Our advice is to NEVER do any work without terms being agreed in writing stipulating, amongst other things: 1/ The exact work to be done. 2/ A discharge of liability for named risks - in the above case it would have been the old fence. 3/ That the client has obtained all permissions for the work being undertaken - including from third parties - and as such indemnifies the contractor should a dispute arise. 4/ Payment terms. 5/ Any obstacles that should be avoided. There are numerous other points you could include in a contract, so you must seek professional advice on the wording. Without any hesitation I would STRONGLY recommend you never do a job without one - it could literally save your bacon!
  13. Carried out a Picus test on this Beech tree a few months back, then got the job of dismantling it with a crane (video to follow). Tree had both Ganoderma and Kretzschmaria. Have to assume that the majority of the decay shown in the Picus and the felled stem is likely from the Ganoderma. Always a relief when the Picus image matches what you see following the fell of a condemned tree.
  14. Or you could just not, and the conversation can stay on track like it has so far, thanks
  15. Seems to be it’s a far more effective platform for products rather than services
  16. This is literally all you need, everyone knows that! 20 years ago it was the norm not to have tickets. Things have moved on a lot since then. I'm sure if you travel to the far reaches of Scotland or similar there would be plenty small operators employing people with no tickets. Bit of a silly risk to take for any large scale firm though!
  17. Never heard of such a thing but just saw these on treestuff. I assume they are also available in the uk TreeStuff - SIP Hedge Trimmer Chaps WWW.TREESTUFF.COM TreeStuff.com Professional Arborist Supplies and Tree Climbing Gear
