  1. Think you’ll probably find it’s your liability by law....morally speaking though is another matter
  2. Well they are harvesting organs in the uk now also. They at least wait till we are dead though so I guess that’s one good thing
  3. Whatever growth you witnessed the Ash tree put on, expect at least double from the Lime. They are pretty tolerant of heavy pruning, but its not going to satisfy your neighbours, well maybe for a year or so it might.
  4. That’s interesting. My lads going to be driving soon. A £2400 policy is going to cost him £200 a month and I’m pretty sure you can get a pcp on a small car for that. If Insurance is thrown in it’s a no brainier er
  5. He collapsed in his home and didn’t make it. That’s all I know unfortunately
  6. Bit out of my area. Can check on trees.org.uk for consultants
  7. Disclaimer, no one can tell anything from photos ?
  8. Unfortunately no ones going to be able to tell you how long it will stand. Healthy looking trees can fall on the calmest days, and hollow trees can stand through gale force winds! From the photos I don’t see anything setting off alarm bells other than the fungus which should ideally be monitored with a picus test. That’s not cheap though
  9. Nope, nothing can be done to get rid of it. The only thing you can do is monitor the tree, perhaps get it looked at by an expert. You can also get tests done to determine how much decay is in the tree. This is a butt rotting fungus so there will almost certainly be some. More pics of the tree would be good.
  10. Woke up to this, really sad news to hear. He was always a pleasure to have around on Arbtalk. Also had the pleasure of working with him for a week just before I packed in climbing. He will be missed around here.

  13. All positive steps. Just wait for the news that the tax payer will have to fund gym classes for the unemployed who have been prescribed them by the doctor.
  14. Did you check the directory to make sure you are not the only allotment tennant listed on the directory?

  17. ‘We listened, we worked and we made it awesome’ – that was the mantra of GreenMech when they launched their EVO series at the 2019 Arb Show. Now, they’ve made it lighter! Offering all of the proven performance in a sub 750kg package, the EVO 165P SUB-750 is the latest exciting launch in the revolutionary wood chipper collection. The brand-new EVO 165P SUB-750 retains many of the key features of the series including a wide infeed chute, twin horizontal rollers, all-steel bonnet and heavy-duty flywheel combined with the powerful, yet economic 37hp Briggs & Stratton Vanguard petrol engine. To bring the machine into the sub-750kg bracket, the 165P SUB-750 features a redesigned chassis – rigorously tested to ensure durability – and alterations to its construction and specification, without detriment to its overall performance. Also as standard on the 165P SUB-750 is GreenMech’s patented disc blade technology, providing up to 200 hours of chipping before re-sharpening is required, and a three year parts and labour warranty. Commenting on the newest addition, Sales Director Martin Lucas said, “From the off, the EVO collection was very much driven by what the market demands and this is again the case with the sub 750kg EVO 165P SUB-750. The EVO has really established itself as providing more aggressive torque, bite and throughput than most other machines in its category and by incorporating this performance in a lighter weight package, we can meet the requirements of even more of today’s arborists.” Since the original diesel launch model, GreenMech have introduced an EVO tracked version and an even more powerful EVO 45hp Limited Edition option.
  18. I remember having that problem, they did come loose eventually but took some doing. have you tried sticking a long bar on the allen key? Those euro spikes are horrendous, you'll be pleased once you have the new spikes on
  19. Looks Maple like. How big is it? Pic makes it look huge, in which case I would expect the bark to be a lot thicker if it were a Poplar species.
