  1. That black and decker sanding drum looks to be discontinued. It’s out of stock everywhere and some places have marked it discontinued. any other solutions?
  2. Any chance of a direct link to these? Struggling to find them on the site
  3. Thanks, I’ll take a look
  4. Is the resin on that same page ok?
  5. Thanks for all the tips. Wood is very dry, been sitting in a barn for about 4 years. Is this the bronze stuff you mean? Like the idea of that. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Polycraft-Bronze-Powder-Cold-Filler/dp/B00364PJ9E/ref=mp_s_a_1_13?crid=LJP1J2ZX6CX9&keywords=bronze+powder+for+resin&qid=1640806148&sprefix=bronze+powder%2Caps%2C58&sr=8-13
  6. Also I’ve done yew boards to play with. I think these are going to become multi tiered displayed stands for shows
  7. These are the boards I have to work with. One on the left will be a console table and I’m hoping to get a coffee table out of the one on the right. coupke questions, how to fill the little holes. And do I just sand down the nobbly bits on the edge? Cause my lack of correct terminology 😀
  8. In answer to your question, the contact button is clicked on between 80-100 times per day on average. How many of those clicks result in an actual tip being made I don’t know, but in general I’d say yes it is a very well used feature
  9. These sites that only take tiny amounts shouldn’t be on there. I have no way of checking all the sites and rely on people reporting sites like this so I can remove them
  10. Seen it a few times myself though not necessarily to the extent of the one in the photos which is why I wondered if it can also be some sort of canker
  11. Bit of Googling suggests it’s ulmus alata, or winged elm in English. can’t speak for everyone else on the forum but elm trees are a bit before my time so my ident on different varieties isn’t too hot! 12. I think it’s elm, not sure if it’s a specific variety that does this or some sort of bacterial canker.
  13. I sometimes wonder if they even get out their car
  14. Ignore that, just treated myself to a jointer
  15. Would one of these be able to do the job of a biscuit jointer? Einhell 4465160 VARRITO 18V Cordless Multi-Tool (Body Only) | Toolden WWW.TOOLDEN.CO.UK We are the UK's fastest growing Power Tool distributor. Supplying Power Tools, Hand Tools, Tool...
  16. What’s the need for wax on top of oil? I thought it was one or the other
  17. Thanks. The wood itself is going to be pretty dark anyway so I don’t think the actual colour the oil leaves is going to be an issue, more the finish it leaves.
  18. Been researching this online and there’s a million different ways. Looking for advice on the best process for finishing elm, ie what sandpaper’s to use, and the best oil, wax or lacquer to apply. This will be for a console table and a coffee table so will be reasonably well used. thanks
  19. Yeah well done, didn’t think about that
  20. Last time I had to make Simona a 2 level cake stand I stick the dowels into one piece, stuck a few dabs of paint on the other end of the dowel that placed it onto the other piece of wood to mark where I needed to drill the holes. very crude, but worked for me and meant I didn’t have to get a measuring tape out 😀
  21. I have a drill and a circular saw I just purchase today. The dowel option was what I was hoping would be strong enough. I can just about manage that. Recommendations on glue?
  22. As title, what’s the easiest way for a complete novice with minimal tools to join 2 boards together for a simple coffee table please
  23. I think it’s right, it’s just the fact that it’s not loaded correctly that it’s acting that way. Once on your harness it will behave completely different
  24. I’m not overly averse to them to be honest
  25. Well done! just be careful with that ISC pulley. Seem to recall someone recently saying never to buy their stuff somewhere or other… oh, just found it here
