  • Congratulations to David Humphries

Congratulations from Arbtalk to David Humphries for winning the London Tree and Woodlands Individual Commitment Award.

David has been a member here on Arbtalk from almost the beginning and I don't believe theres many people who frequent these forums both past and present, that haven't taken away some valuable knowledge that he has imparted on us.

His knowledge and advice has always been given freely, always going above and beyond to provide in-depth answers to anyone that has asked.

One thing that has always impressed me with David(on top of his general enthusiasm) is his organisational skills. Time and time again he revives posts from several years previous, with follow up images and information on previous work he has been a part of. Personally, I struggle to pull up my own threads from a week ago!

We've been fortunate enough to have some very valuable contributors over the years to this forum, but I believe its fair to say David has always stood out when it comes to his fungi knowledge, and his general conduct on the forum. Seeing his passion here over the years, it is of no surprise that he won this award, and i'm sure it won't be the last he wins. Well done David, and thank you on behalf of everyone at Arbtalk!

Thank you fellas, it was a really nice recognition and quite a humbling experience, particularly being virtually presented by Tony Kirkham. It's an award that has been afforded to me by the support of a large cast of people over the years from work, here at Arbtalk and elsewhere that have suffered and indulged me and my passion for all things trees, from tree health care, veteran tree management to fungi identification. I like to think that some inspiration has been sparked by my sharing and observations and that some of the blagging and drivel has been balanced by a few pearls here and there. Big thanks to Steve for giving us this great platform to interact with each other both in the cyber-world and at field meetings sharing our specialisms, experiences and failures to help us all along our various paths. Have made some good friends and acquaintances over my time here, long may that continue.

I raise a virtual glass to you all.? ? ?

That's an excellent accomplishment and acknowledgement for your work over the last 35 years I would say David. Although I am quite new to this platform. Within just over a year I have learned a lot more about many subjects and one of those is certainly tree health and fungi and that is definitely inspired by your good self. As well as going on a walk at Hampstead Heath with the Ancient Tree Forum which certainly gave me a much better insight to tree care and arb and you led the walk. Thanks David (I'm a fan).
