Just cleaned mine after climbing a few wet sycamores yesterday, does anyone oil the ZZ or put anything on them?

I just blow all the crud off with a compressor airline,only had to wash it once with hot soapy water after a conifer job.

I go to hitch climber or prussik on connies now to save the zz gettin gunked up with sap

I've never understood people obsessively cleaning their climbing kit.

 

Someone on FB posted instructions on how to clean and maintain their Hitchclimber.

 

I could barely hold back my disdain.

 

Actually, I didn't.

 

Haha, i chuck my ropes through the washing machine every so often and thats about it. Oh and wd40 my crabs in the hope they will pass loler.

1st time I have ever cleaned it purely because it really was full of sh*t and slime, hardly obsessive. I ask about oil as I am not sure if they need it or not as it is a lot of metal on metal. Look after your kit and it will look after you and save you some hard earned in the long run.
