Norway’s a bit diffident. All Rigs are CyberRigs now so very little hands on and everything is closely monitored, both data and cameras etc. it’s great that I can sip my coffee and keep an eye on the guys on the screens then call them on the radio if they’re doing something wrong. 

Funny how yew get preconceived ideas, probably comes from me working with machines, if it’s got oil in I normally end up covered in the feckin stuff 🤦‍♂️

Can you give a little more info on what the divers are doing and what all the dials are recording…looks very interesting, a world

It’s just a small shallow Nitrox IRM ( inspection, repair, maintenance) job on a floating production unit. Small field so not worth putting a jacket in. Lads are doing a load of designated tasks on primarily the mooring systems and installing a few cofferdams to allow dewatering and internal weld repairs on some of the columns. Thruster changeout on a different location too. Nothing overly complicated just very shallow and weather dependent. That dive control is just a basic Air/Nitrox 3 diver panel, gauges are a mixture of contents pre and post regulated etc depth “ electronic and pneumo  Fathometer type gauges, O2 analysis, dive scanners and obviously the screens for diver hat cams, deck cams and survey, it looks complicated but in reality isn’t if you know what it all does and why it’s there. Days like today it’s a great job.

We are using 40% Nitrox mix here to extend the bottom times but that restricts us depth wise due to the max ppo2 of 1.4. As a general rule commercial diving is max 50m on Air/Nitrox anything deeper you are looking at Saturation diving and Heliox.

I just heard the breaking news story of the day. Andy took a big purse at the rig bingo last night. Wearing his lucky tux he took 3 individual line wins at £6.50 each, and finished with the last house call of the night for a staggering £20.

Very nice, bingo prizes got a lot better than when my old ma used to go.

She used to be so chuffed with her collection of dodgy looking pound shop dolls she 'won'!

The Rig buys in about £5000 in prizes a week for the Bingo. Its basically a way to fairly divvy out the prizes and not be accused of favoritism.
