As mentioned earlier latex gloves are sold in boxes of 100, thats 100 gloves, not 100 pairs.

Maybe so, but joe public, would consider gloves to consist of 'a pair'. It's misdirection at best.
What about the other numbers

I know a wide variety of people from many different walks of life, I know none that would kick a £1k a day into touch. Maybe we're diffent coming from the Midlands and living in Suffolk.

I wish I never mentioned it. :(

I was away for 6 weeks, thats long enough when my wife is desperate for me to come home. I should clarify that the day rate is only when Im off-shore and in my off-period. I would have to wait to 'reset' my time from the last trip which is 7 days where Id only get £100 bonus and as soon as I got off-shore Id be on the higher amount. The last two weeks of my last trip was in my off-period so thats me ok for a while. Right now Im happy to be home with my family.

Did you go through any COVID checks at the airport before they let you travel home Andy?

Nope, nothing. A flight full of Oilfield trash on a cramped Dash 8 Plane. :D It seems social distancing does not apply to choppers or planes.

My mates daughter has been volunteering with an aid agency as part of her studies, been in Mongolia for a while.

She came back last week via Dubai, they had airport screening then hotel confinement, she arrived at Heathrow then straight on the express to Brighton, no checks or information about Covid 19 whatsoever.

The Oil industry is not alone in this, there are a shitload of people losing their jobs and possible homes/businesses.

At least with a decent income from the Oil industry your guys might be able to adjust a little easier, triggers knocking back a grand a day at the minute.

Not everyone is on anywhere near that and as Andy will say that’s not quite the reality of the situation, taxation in the Norwegian sector in Andy’s  case for example is eye watering. There is a huge misconception that oil and gas equals loads of money, unfortunately in the UK sector that is not the case. You are right in as much as many are in the same boat so to speak. I’m pretty much convinced now that the cure is gonna be worse than the virus.
