Changing the subject a little, how do you Arbtalkers feel about the de-criminalisation of late abortion?

For those who don’t know, the amendment passed yesterday does not allow the UK medical profession to assist in late term abortions; it just allows a mother to order pills by post, and carry out her own abortion at any time before birth.  What she does then I have no idea.  Take the abortion pill then call an ambulance?

Think the Kurds might disagree in some respects but yeah your beloved Labour certainly lied like a cheap watch that time.

Noting well that at the time more Tory MPS voted to invade Iraq than Labour MPs did.

..Ohh, this one could run for a while!.. Nothing we like better than a tricky issue

Personally, abortion overall comes down to the individual and justifying it to themselves internally. If they are happy then so be it. However I think there is a time when the foetus is viable to live on it's own given suitable support - 39 weeks 'abortion' and the baby dies is probably not so good in my morals, 4 weeks and a foetus no biggie.

Question might be how would you police a cut off date without a doctors training and knowledge and for this, ordering pills through the post is not a good idea.

From the information that I have looked at, it seems the change in the law is to protect surgeons so that they can aid women who require late term abortions e.g - due to their foetus being dead and needing it removing, or the foetus developing critical/chronic/dangerous health issues in late term.

It’s changed to protect both surgeon and mother from criminal prosecution, I don’t have a problem with it personally.

Is it just me or would the world not be a better place if Israel didn’t exist?

I think you’d be surprised how many people think the same about the UK.
