How can you mistake a taser for a glock pistol ?

How do you mistake direct instructions to comply with the Police with try to outrun the police then physically struggle and try to get away from them?

I guess these will just be some of life’s little mysteries.

That was my first thought, having seen the footage the officer was actually shouting 'taser, taser, taser' as she drew and fired the pistol. Did look like a mistake, maybe she was panicking. 

 

Agree with Trigger Andy though, often when these stories come out I think what did they expect? Never been to the US but I know if the Police point a gun at you and your reaction is to fight/run you're at risk of being shot at regardless of how right or wrong you are.

I thought you had to keep your pistol mounted on your domimant arm side and the taser on the other .

That would make sense Stubby, but I'm unaware of the rules. I can't claim to have any training to carry firearms

I see what you mean. Have only seen them occasionally carried by the Police here in Scotland and they look like yellow plastic.

 

You'd hope though, someone entitled to carry a weapon for their job would be well trained to recognise what they were holding, especially in a stressful situation.

Considering the victim (supposedly) already has warrants out for his arrest including brandishing an unlicensed firearm then when the Police try and pull him over he evades arrest, refuses to pull over then struggles with the Police when they finally apprehend him. Id be absolutely bricking myself that a man with this track record who is acting in such an uncontrollably way is not reaching for another unlicensed weapon. 

 

Id say let 'due process' take place before casting judgement but supposedly following the law is now a sackable offence.
