We had permission from the council as it was storm damaged so the council said that cones and tape are fine we looked at the job the evening before. Tied the broken stem to itself and the tree it was hung up in and the golf course deployed a make shift barrier and notice for the night. We then closed the footpath and carried on with the work in the morning.5b5b344e5f1ca1ca69db8d8e17a248af.jpg

Fair one....

I wasn't criticising, just trying to read between the lines and maybe defuse some of the apparent conflict in the thread between those doing (probably what a good many have done) and those being accused of some sort of aloofness for stating procedural correctness.

Fair enough cheers kevinjohnsonmbe. People do like to find fault in other people's work. I was only making the point that the public can't be trusted to keep them selves safe.

Not trying to stir the pot any more but when the op sorts his insurance he also needs to realise that with out a second climber, all gear loler tested and correct Cs tickets or equilevant there is a good chance the insurance won't be valid. So when Mrs x house gets broke and he goes bust cause his insurance washes there hands of it I'm sure it won't be his fault

Any I'm sure he will be out tarmacing shortly so my effort to help a educate will be wasted. ( tounge in cheek)

And yes customers can be a pain you need to nip it in the bud for everyone's sake

I have had two insurance claims over the years, one for an asbestos shed roof, I broke a sheet and the whole lot had to be replaced by men in spacesuits. Then a smashed sewer pipe which required honey wagons etc.

Insurance company never asked for second climber/LOLER.

Just my experience.

I've had one claim, hit a postie van with a flying log. Insurance didn't ask for any tickets etc
