I'd be cautious, you are essentially telling your insurer you are committing tax fraud.

I think this could be interpretted/mis-interpretted as buying items through business that are actually intended for personal use. As i said, I'd be cautious of saying this to your insurer. It's not an insinuation on my behalf.

buy a shotgun! if you can't get the bar stewards steeling your tools, you can at least get the thieves your insured with!

Would it not be better just to put it all through the business insurance together?

That way only one policy is taking the hit? Not sure if it works like that

Reducing the number of claims is key to keeping ones rates as low as possible.

Having multiple claims will not only keep your rates high, it will in time give the carrier the right to cancel coverage all together. Sadly a catch 22.

Spot on. I have given up insuring small equipment like saws on my commercial policy. The cost was too high considering I had never claimed. You must also bear in mind I am a one man band with one employee with lots of big equipment that also needs insuring. I was paying out more in insurances than anything else. It got ridiculous.

Insurance rang me back this week and told me I was mis-advised. I do have cover on my house insurance for my business tools so are now going to pay out.
