Yes it is a crying shame that it's coming down I've been trying to talk them out of it for weeks. We even started pruning it but they then decided it had to go. The reason for felling it is not really a great one but I will try & explain. It's on a estate that is open to the public & the garden you see it in is the owners private garden & they want it down because they are worried that there little kids will eat the Berries. I know this is not a good excuse but this is what they want done. I have spent a lot of time trying to change there minds but it's made any difference.

 

Good on you for trying to change their minds but this has to go down as one of the worst reasons I've ever heard for removing what has to be an historic tree of some significance.

Hmmm... it's a reason but I would say they just want that tree gone and it sounds better than 'it takes all the light from the garden'.

 

 

What a shame as that has to be a few years old and it looks healthy.

It's funny how many people worry about kids eating Yew berries - understandable on the face of it, but I've never actually heard about a child being rushed to hospital. Perhaps it happens but is rarely heard of?

 

You can eat the berries but not the seed, people make jam out of it.

Yeah you can eat the berries... Now I'm not sure if this was said for effect, but on a different forum I was in the understanding that the tree was coming down to make way for a mosque!! Same tree, same OP, different reason? I want the truth buddy, if it's coming down for a mosque im gonna strap myself to it.

No it's not coming down for a mosque. The tree is in a private garden.

The lad who put it up on FB works for me & he said it as a joke.

 

I really do understand why people would be pissed off about it coming down because I am not very happy about it. I've done everything in my power to stop it.

Educate mummy & daddy to instruct nanny, so she/he can educate children. (And give nanny an allowance, so she/he can purchase & apply duct tape, where & when necessary and to whom.)
