Why does everyone go on about a heavy chipper killing the truck and brakes etc. Yet when big 3.5t tipping trailers are discussed it's never brought up, even though they are heavier?

 

Perhaps because a chipper is pretty much a permanent fixture behind an arb truck only replaced now and again by a tipping trailer

Because a smaller lighter chipper will do the same job, may take a little longer with a little more snedding, but the job is still done. A 3.5 tone trailer is what it is.

Weight is probably comparable to a decent tracked machine + trailor, that many companies pull about on a daily basis

Our Ifor tipper trailer with high sides on a weigh bridge is 1100kg... Put the vermeer mini skid in there at 1.3t ... Plus the bucket or log grab and I'd say near 150-200kg ... Same weight as pulling the chipper around... But no one questions pulling that...

Same goes for the tipper trailer and the mini digger in it... 2600kg . And we pulled that around all the time... Got 60k out of this truck pulling them about before we had to change the clutch .

Do you load that with digger or skid steer

And I load it with a skidsteer and a mini digger. Another local firm to me load it with with there timber grab on there lorry 😁
