I love the new Navara, if I had to replace the Landy tomorrow that would most likely be my choice..

Mind you, I have never seen a defender do this....

 

Happened to a few 130s in 2009 which were built for Fountains and fitted with MEWPs. This pic is an extended cab version of the 130 but the regular single cabs failed as well.

Warranty doesn't cover the downtime you lose when its in the garage

 

 

Had no down time yet, on services get the same vehicle with tow bar

 

Once brought a new ranger tipper

Downtime and a fiesta while it was in ALL the time was down time!

 

Soon as it got to 60k and out of warranty I sold it, worse truck for reliability

 

Never had a problem with Toyotas

How you getting on with the NP300 Steve? Has the 2.3 lump got plenty of grunt? I'm gonna test drive it against the new Hilux. I like the idea of coils over leafs mind.

Picking the best out of a bad bunch seems to be the case with small trucks these days.

 

None if the engine of drive train options seem adaquate to pull the trucks maximum towing weight consistantly.

 

I suppose the vehicles are designed and built to target the largest consumer group and those using them for work are not catered too.

I think you're right. Pickups in the UK market are seemingly aimed at business customer who primarily use the vehicle for personal use (for tax reasons no doubt). How many double cabs do you see compared to single cabs? I'd say it must be 20 doubles to one. How many pickups are on all terrains/mud terrains compared to 18" alloys.... Sweeping generalisation but I'd say it is fairly valid. The challenge there is your average user is more interested in leather seats, higher and more comfortable cruise speeds, looks. Commercial users like many of us look for low end power of towing, tow capacity, GTW, etc.

 

Personnaly I feel the big players have missed a trick by not having 7t GTW. A 1000-1250kg payload and a 3500kg tow weight would be a massive advantage.

It's lovely mate. Feels just as powerful as the 2.5 really

 

 

Thx Steve, be interesting to see how it compares to my 3L Hilux, both in performance and ride, I'm sure the coils must make a huge difference when the backs empty. Craig
