Going to buy an MS661 but....

You'll only be using it occasionally, so maybe you'll not be too bothered by the level of vibration. But bear in mind those vibs:

880 L6.9 R5.6

661 L8.9 R8.9

 

 

661 is 5.5 both L and R according to manufacturers spec.

Nope. Got it off the specs. as stated on the Stihl UK website:

I have the reliability down of 880/088's as questionable ... They are one of worse saws I've seen with running problems and seizures for the actual amount of running time used.

 

Not had one my self but my bud did and I would tend to agree . Kept breaking down and in the end the bottom end went and was deemed an uneconomical repair . My 3120 never let me down . Sold it now.

The 880 is listed as 8.9 L and R on the UK site though

Personally I think a lot of issues with the 880 Stem from not being used enough or laid up for long periods hence why I have used Stihl Motomix from new , no issues here and runs sweet .
