Tiny echo!

Finally bit the bullet and used it for the first time today.

Well, first time climbing....

Fantastic little saw.

BUT - it's an absolute bastard to start.

Any advice appreciated.

It's a echo and it's hard to start i can't believe that I thought it was only the evil husqvarna that that didn't start 😉

Is it me or did I score the Friday afternoon saw... Sick of new kit being sub standard. Mine wont hold its tuning, It seems ok for about an hour or so then wont idle properly again or pick up and is a pig to start.. Its such a light saw I love it but surely it should work!!!!

Mine is starting to feel like that. Was idling fast and having weird fits of running really fast and sounding worryingly lean. Reduced the idle and now it cuts out constantly and won't start without either half choke or a bit of throttle.

Have you checked the fuel line? Sounds like air getting in somewhere

Yeah might have a check, I did give the saw a hard time when the saw got stuck in a log up a tree, the tech at the shop put it back together but might be something damaged.

My Stihl 150 seems to do this when I run it on supermarket fuel and Stihl red oil. But when I use my own fuel in it, shell and Stihl green oil it's fine

A while ago I got a Sugihara bar and chain for the saw as a comparison with the Stihl.

Out the box the Sugi chain was dire, chattering in the cut, very slow and just felt awful.

Anyway, I conveyed this to Rob at Chainsawbars who told me that I should sharpen the chain and that it should be better.

Well, I can now report that after a careful sharpen it is brilliant. There's still a slight occasional chatter in the cut but I'm sure that will disappear with another few file strokes. It definitely cuts as fast or faster than the Stihl chain.

10/10 to Rob D for the usual stellar advice.
